Hi!

Is there any possibility on the site to search for musicians (not only bands or CDs)?

for example, i want to see all the projects/albums where tony levin played.

can i do that? if not, why don't you make it possible? thnx.

There is no such facility at present dima_olkov, and while it would be a great enhancement, it would be a massive task to implement.

It's not the programming which would be the issue, it's collating the data.Wink

It shouldn't be too difficult, Easy Livin. The line-up for each album is stored in the relational database, so an SQL query could be constructed to return a list of albums for a particular keyword (artist's name) within the line-up column in the database. The result of the query could be presented as a tabular list of all the albums, ordered by group/artist and date for example, and with the album name being a hyperlink to the album's page in the Archives.

Fair point Fitz. Remember though that the line up info is effectively in free form format, not in individual fields. The forum search facility was recently pulled back from allowing searches through the "body text" for performance issues, so their may be the same implications here.

The other point I'd make is that the various artist albums do not tend to hold full line up info, and that is probably where a major benefit of this suggestion could be.

Don't get me wrong, I do agree it is a constructive and worthwhile suggestion, and one I'm sure M@X will put on the wish list!
