This is probably my favorite 'late night' prog album. To many; this is the album that really started the progressive rock genre. And; it is in the top 5 of my favorite rock albums ever. Greg Lake really shines; as does Robert Fripp. Of course; this is the only full album he did with King Crimson. ELP formed up shortly following this album's release.

To me; this is a very mystical album. When I listen to this, it carries me away - like back to the 13th century. It's dark; and yet, very musical. The lyrics can be understood, too. And; that is something, I always look forward to. So often; the music might be good on an album. But; trying to understand what is being sung is another story.

Released in 1969; this is a timeless classic!

I love the orchestration of the album.  The "Wall of sound" as it's referred to.  The album as a whole is amazing.  You don't usually find an album where every song on it is a favourite.

It is my all time favourite album!!!

I love all of the music, the words, the playing and the production, including the rather odd drum sound.

I only wish that the first KC line up had made a second album!!! The material found on In the Wake of Poseidon and McDonald and Giles blended together and worked on by the group would have created another near perfect classic I think!

It's too bad Moonchild is 3/5 useless (though 2/5 great) and there's a ton more random silence in the title track. First side is fantastic, though.
