There are some wonderful gems here such as Shelagh McDonald 's Stargazer and The Asmoto Running Band by the Principal Edwards Magic Theatre. But Aqualung is a true classic, and in a league of it's own here, imo.

-both the ISB albums feature songs that I love - as well as a few that totally ruin the full album-listening experience.

I felt like I'd discovered the pot of gold at the end of the Rainbow when I heard Shelagh McDonald's heavenly Stargazer album for the first time. Thumbs Up

I haven't yet decided who I'm going to vote for this time around, but at the moment, it looks like being anything but Aqualung, as I'm sure Jethro Tull will get lots of votes here without my help. Smile

Fog on the Tyne. It is a significant album that probably played a key role in determining the final form of one subculture around the English folk-rock music. The album features excellent tunes and insightful lyrics that resonate deeply with the societal issues of its era, all performed by a talented group of musicians in a relaxed and enjoyable manner. And when I heard it for the first time, I accepted it instantly!

Fog on the Tyne was actually the album that introduced me to the joy found in softer, acoustic folk-rock music, where enjoyment is the primary focus. I appreciated every aspect of its presentation. For instance, the cover art—a mid-nineteenth-century etching depicting a scene along the Tyne River—was particularly striking; I really cherished the photographs within the gatefold sleeve that captured the band having fun on a misty Lindisfarne island and enjoying themselves at a local pub.

Despite loving folk (and related) of the period. I do not know the majority of the albums on the list. O very much like Jan Dukes de Grey's Mice and Rats in the Loft, Shelagh McDonald's Stargazer and Jethro Tull's Aqualung but I knew when I saw it that I would go with Jan Dukes de Grey. "Sun Sympohonica" is to me really wonderful.. One of my very favourite tracks and a masterpiece in its own right to me.

Although its not quite as good as their debut i'll vote for Mr Fox's Gypsy. If i could have a second, it would be Maddy Prior and Tim Hart's Summer Solstice. Love ISB but those later 'Island' albums don't do it for me the way the 'Elektra' albums did

I love me some Lindisfarne too, Alan Hull was one of the BEST song writers of his generation. But i feel 'Nicely out of tune' and 'Dingly Dell' were better albums.. But Alan's 'Pipe-Dream' album is absolutely sublime.
