I was not going to do another,. but was dissatisfied with stopping
with the third. This is the fourth female singers poll, and I am
covering various names I did not include before that are, for the first
time in this little series, all in PA. I hope there is sufficient
diversity here, some of these being among my personal favourites and
others being notable names. No playlist this time. Please vote for
three, or more, or less of these singers (in some AND cases they come as
a performing pair -- love Mellow Candle).
Tori Amos Susie Bogdanowich (Glass Hammer) Christina Booth (Magenta) Vashti BunyanSandy Denny (Strawbs, Fairport Convention) Amy Darby (Thieves' Kitchen) Jane Doboc (Bacamarte) Heather Findlay (Mostly Autumn) Diamanda Galas Annie Haslam and/or Jane Relf (Renaissance) Celia Humphris (Trees) Floor Jansen and/or Tarja Turunen and/or Anette Olzon (Nightwish) Renate Knaup (Amon Düül II) Sonja Kristina (Curved Air) Laura Meade and Annmarie Byrne (Izz) Anna Meek (Catapilla) Sally Oldfield Carolina Prieto (Kotebel) Maddy Prior (Steeleye Span/ solo) Inga Rumpf (Frumpy) Ingemo Rylander (Kultivator) Simone Simons (Epica) Jenny Sorrenti (Saint Just) Anna Stewart (Shub-Niggurath) Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering)Stella Vander (Magma, Offering) Alison Williams and Clodagh Simonds (Mellow Candle) Here are the former polls: 26 Female Artists with 2010-up Releases I Love
Feel free to mention another not listed in any of the polls and please share what, if any, you like from this list. Thanks. |

Okay, I'll be the first to post in this surprisingly to me unpopular poll which does go outside of my wheelhouse. My three votes will go to: Renate Knaup Stella Vander Jenny Sorrenti Special nods to the singers of Trees, Kultivator, Kotebel, Mellow Candle, and Shub-Niggurath. By the way, Jenny Sorrenti's Saint Just should not be confused with another Saint Just. If you listen closely enough, you can just about hear the difference (I won't say which is which, it's kind of like the Pepsi challenge). |

Great list (it's part 4 but may be the best).
There are certainly more than five great singers here, but Annie, Sonja Kristina, Sally Oldfield, Tori Amos, and Renate are particularly close to my heart. I'll vote for three of these but won't declare which.
