My Prog Adventures

Ladies and Gentlemen, you may or may not know who I am(ypu probably don't) but whether you do or not is irrelevant. You see I have been on a mission to listen to literally every prog album released in the seventies and eighties(once I've done that I can move on to the nineties.) You may be wondering why I'm telling you this, well I would love to spread the word of obscure gems I find along the way and of course, learn of obscure gems you've run across in your own journeys.

And as a way to start this documentation I would like to introduce to you two groups I found today.

Number one is Terraced Garden a Toronto based group who released three albums in the eighties. According to their fans they are influenced by the Red era of King Crimson. Notably they have a woodwind player, a violinist, and a mellotron.

Secondly is Whole Wheat, releasing a sole album in 1977, this group has a violinist and at least two vocalists(one male and on female), the reason I say at least is because I could only find two tracks.

I will probably be buying these albums to get more in depth "analysis" on them. Anyone here have any experience with these groups?

Today while out and about I ran across an album at my local record store, the album is a compilation of songs written by a man named [Marin Skrgatic and is titled Dawn of the Yugoslavian Prog Rock Era. Released in 2023 this compiles 11 unreleased radio recordings dating between 1970 and 1976. Certainly an outstanding listen, especially for fans of brass as there are plenty of horns to go around. I strongly recommend to all prog fans.
