Has anybody else noted the decline of interesting and exciting topics to discuss on this forum of late?

Were the threads ever really that much better? Or are we only romanticising the past?

I haven't got that much PA past to romaticise with- only joined in July, but it did seem like a place I wanted to be then. I have always found the main forum to be a bit weak in intellectual discussion, but there were the other topic forums that usually had a few interesting items in them. Too old and jaded, I think to get involved in who's better type discussions. If time has told me one thing it is that there isn't any one best band in progressive, there are just lots of very good bands. Maybe Maani's age poll states the obvious- the place now has a playground mentallity.

^^  Yes, I have definitely detected a demographic shift in the last 6 months. But to me, it's rewarding in a sociological sort of way. I can't necessarily contribute, but I can watch Dream Theater fans scream at one another. Or watch as metal fans beg the site to deem their music "prog-related." Or notice rather confusedly that Pain of Salvation is now actually mentioned on the site.

But I actually I kind of like it. Damn, you know I gotta listen to that Radiohead CD I bought three months ago!

Cobb,

How about going back through some old ones for us, and reactivating some you think were good?Big smile All you'd need to do is add a post to them.
