Curt Cobain is not my idea of a guitar hero either, but he just happened to be included in Guitarist Magazine's Top 100 guitarists. Smile

Your polls are great. No complaint. If there's any complaint, it's with Guitarist Magazine, who seems to feel a need to pander to their pimplefaced self identified disaffected grunge wannabe audience.
You have a good point. I get the distinct impression that Guitarist Magazine is read by a younger audience. Smile

Larry Carlton over Al Di Meola

        over Kurt Cobain

^^ I think The Edge has lost his edge after falling way behind with just one vote. Wink

I'll gladly cast a vote on Al Di Meola.
Guitar master in every sense of the word. Impeccable cross-picking, very succesful in demanding flamenco music as well as jazz/fusion. Influential in his niche, always dealing with cerebral and awe-inspiring music. What's not to like? The only thing he lacks is recognition, but who cares.

I'm glad The Edge is left behind.

On Cobain in general, why on earth Guitar Mag lists him as a top 100 is INSANE. Simply strumming a guitar in grunge mode does nothing, his only fame was the beginning lick on Smells Like Teen Spirit, very memorable but hardly great.
Kurt Cobain does nothing at all for me either and there's no way I'd include him in my own personal list of guitar heroes. There are far more worthy guitar heroes (such as Robert Fripp) who Guitarist Magazine could have included in their Top 100 list.

I agree. Eric Clapton is God! Thumbs Up I'm planning to put the Top 2 guitarists with the most votes in each poll through to the final face-off round, so I'm glad to say Clapton will make it through to the final round.

Al Di Meola is doing surprisingly well in the poll. He's now drawn level with Eric Clapton on seven votes each.

the guitar solo on Kid Charlemagne alone is enough to earn Carlton the vote, it is the best solo in a jazz/rock setting
