I'll go with Georgia Hubley.  She's got a real nice "pocket" that's hard to explain.

Akiko Takahashi (Ars Nova) is the only female drummer I listen to.

I've never heard Ruth Underwood play a conventional drum kit? (just chromatic percussion of every conceivable shape or form as part of Zappa's band) Confused

Not my kind of music, but I believe Cindy Blackman (Santana, Lenny Kravitz, Buckethead etc.) can play a bit.

What?

Masaru from Syphilitic Vaginas.

Cheshire Agusta from Stinking Lizaveta.

Out of the ones listed, I'm tempted to go with Sheila E.  I saw her on some tv show or another years ago and she played the sh*t out of the drums.

This just solidifies my, granted somewhat sexist, thoughts on female drummers: They're pretty basic and uninteresting.
It's not that I don't want them to be every bit as good as their male counterparts, but to these ears there is a huge gap. Just like football actually (yeah shoot meTongue).
Just goes to show that there are differences between the sexes (thank ford!), and that one of the few things where women generally are inferior to men, is drumming (and football).

I think that's just because there's fewer female musicians in rock music period, so there's fewer really good ones.

Maybe that's true, but then again I've never really heard any female drummer that knocked my socks off. I'd like to thoughSmile

Iris Camaa of Tangerine Dream. Tied with Helen Wiggin of The Shaggs. The former looks priceless (she goes total valkyrie on the drums) and the latter sounds priceless.

Other: Anika Nilles, she's downright incredible.
