Well, I posted this yesterday, but apparently I wasn't descriptive enough, or somebody thought I was posting something I shouldn't. Hopefully the new title will save this thread from assuming the same fate as its predecessor.

Who thinks this cover is just absolute perfection?

It's rather dull in my eyes to be honest.  Though played well enough, I find the interpretation to be lacking in creativity.

Wow. O_O. Well, if he sings for my project, will you guys be just as quick to dismiss him, or will you give him a fighting chance?

And no, he;s clearly not PG. I guess that's why it's a cover, and not the original song. As a cover, I thought it was perfect, because so many people try to mimick him, and this guy just sang the way he interperated. Anyway, thansk fro your honesty, anyway.

I'm still gonna hope he agrees to my project, though, because as far as I'm concerned, his voice fits the bill.

What I mean is that he's a talented-enough singer and guitarist, but I found the version to be lacklustre due to a lack of originality/ uniqueness in the interpretation.  I don't expect he'll be doing covers if he sings for your project, will he?

Incidentally, I'm partial to his name.

Cover is just so-so, but he is a really good singer.  Should be great for a prog project, he's got that Neal Morse thing going on.

The problem for me is that the covers he sings on YouTube are of English bands (Floyd, Radiohead, The Who, Peter Gabriel, etc. - and to give him a fair listen I did try them all) and he has an American voice - while there is nothing inherently wrong in that, it just doesn't work for me. However, I'm sure his voice will fit well with original music.
What?

I won't get into the interpretation discussion apart from saying that I enjoyed that version, but I was well impressed with the singing voice.

Hang on, I will get into that discussion: Does everyone, who sings a PG song have to sound like PG to get accepted for his interpretation, and wouldn't that really just be copy-cat? Considering the circumstances where the recording was made, it's a great achievement, showing that the singer even in those surroundings has a great gift for delivering a song in a wonderful and emotional manner.

I think he really made it his own.

Cover is pleasant enough, but I, too, would rather see & hear him sing something original. He has a nice voice. Of course, NOBODY is another PGTongue

Given that I don't actually know the original, I thought that this was absolutely brilliant.

Terrific singer.

Since the other thread is going, I though I'd repost these two PG covers by the wonderful Happy Rhodes here:
