have any of you heard about Joe Satriani suing Coldplay for plagiarism.
Coldplay's "Viva La Vida"  sounds extremely similair Satriani's "If I Could Fly"
On youtube this dude breaks the songs down and compares them

It was hard to tell from those two. However, this one seemed more convincing to me:
Honestly, though, it doesn't sound like something someone couldn't come up with on their own to me. I don't mean that in a bad way, though.

There are already, like, eight threads about this.
 
It's a very simple melody and chord progression, and since Creaky Boards accidentally wrote almost exactly the same song at the same time (there is proof of independent development for them because Coldplay has demos from 2007), I'm pretty sure it was coincidental.

Coincidental or not, I hate Coldplay, and hope that got sued to the point of bankruptcy:P
