I'm working on a blog assessing the shape of prog as defined by PA. I'm very interested to analyse statistical details related to the number of albums per sub-genre, and the number of reviews per album per sub-genre. I want to answer the question: 'What have PA users, by their review activity, identified as the music of most interest/relevance to them on this site?'

I will understand if this is a) deemed commercially sensitive, or b) impossible/too difficult to extract. But if the information is easily retrieved, I'd rather not have to go through the database and record the number of reviews for each of 18,652 albums.

Can anyone help? Or should I leave this one alone?

Good questions.....at the very worst you could take a slice of say the top 100 most prolific reviewers and calculate via the pie charts? Still time consuming i know, hopefully there is some easy stas available...

I have a suspicion that the top reviewers cast their nets somewhat wider than the average user of the site, Chris. But what you suggest would be an excellent contrast to the broader statistics, and is well worth doing.

I don't think any of what you are looking for would be considered sensitive. There is though no easy way to extract it.

I'd suggest you sent a PM to M@x with your exact requirements. He should be able to run a few queries for you and give you details.
