He succumbed to pneumonia at the age of 64.  His powerful voice fronting the Dave Clark Five was one of the first indications to us here in the states that the British Invasion was going to include a lot more bands than just the Beatles.  The DC5 had a happy, upbeat but definitely kickass attitude that I loved and Mike's voice in particular was one of the most recognizable on AM radio in the mid to late 60s.  My condolences to his family and friends.  He was a true rocker.

Sad.  Mike and the DC5 are often overlooked these days.  I would recommend anyone not familiar with the band to find a copy of the song "Anyway You Want It", which pretty much epitomizes 'wall of sound'.
