Some guy named pociluk, who incedentily has never made a single post on the forums (i looked on his bio) has decided that with his first review, one on the RUSH- Permanent Waves album, to ridicule how I reviewed the album and point out the problems with the way i reviewed.
This is my review on it:
I know this album at least deserves a 4, but does it deserve the all powerful 5? This would put it up as the top 2-3 RUSH albums of all time. Is it that good? Well, the only way to find out is to look at each song individualy, then the album as a whole
Spirit of the Radio- 10/10- One of RUSH's greatest commercial songs, and just one of their greatest songs in general. I honestly believe the lyrics in this song are some of the most poetic and original Neal has ever written. It may be geared more toward radio play, but with all the changes in the song and the odd time signatures, its still prog baby. Everyone can enjoy this song, and its hard not to smile when you hear it.
Freewill- 9/10- Another great RUSH song. Also geared toward radio airplay, but who cares, its still a great song. It comes right out of the gate rolling with the momentum built up by the first song. The lyrics here, again, are fantastic and really fun to recite and sing along with. Not too terribly complicated, but very catchy and very clean. It gets fun and crazy towards the middle, and then goes back to the rhythem of the beginning of the song. Great.
Jacob's Ladder- 8/10- Still going strong, and building up tension. Good stuff.
Entre Nous- 6.5/10- Sorta catchy, but only the first few times. You'll find yourself skipping this song after a few spins.
Different Strings- 6/10- Kinda like Entre Nous, except more boring. You'll do the same thing to this one.
Natural Science- 10/10- Best song in the album, and one of the best RUSH songs ever done. Proggy and never really slows down, once scene is set up it just gets up and goes.
So i suppose i can't give this album the 5 stars, but is gets a nice and proud 4 stars from me. Very highly recommended
This is HIS review on it:
"I read a review by Ryan Mc Bride that was so typical, I need to write one that was from a different perspective. I give this album 4/5 just like Ryan BUT it is based on the strength of 2 songs he sl*gged. "Entre Nous" and "Different Strings" are 2 of Rush's better short songs and to suggest they are skipable is ridiculous. Yes the 2 popular songs are solid. "Jacob's Ladder" is solid. "Natural Science" is GOOD but not great. Both "Entre Nous" and "Different Strings" are great. Buy the album for those songs alone!"
I would put a permanent link to this but i don't know how, please someone either talk to this person, or delete his review. I don't really think im over reacting he's clearly just using the review to put me down.
