Topic: Circa Survive Posted: June 26 2007 at 08:36 |
Anyone here listen to Circa Survive? I never really gave their 2nd album a chance but I'm listening to it now and its really, really good. I'd definitely say they should be added to the archives.

The new album is fantastic. I like Juturna too, but after hearing On Letting Go, I'm not sure how often I will listen to it. Well, that's streching it, but still...
I can't stop listening to that album. They are definitely forward-thinking and what not, but they're inclusion won't come easy. Some of the modern wave of progressive/experimental bands have gotten in, and some have been excluded.

A girl told me about them a few years ago after I got francis the mute. I really didn't like it much them, but i see the similarities between them and TMV.

I resurrected this thread because yesterday I saw both CDs by this band in a shopping mall. One of them, a copy of "Juturna", bore a sticker mentioning 'prog-punk' - then, I was quite sure I'd heard the band mentioned somewhere on this board. Besides, the album title intrigued me, since Juturna is a character in Virgil's "Aeneid", a nymph to whom a source was dedicated in my native city of Rome.
I haven't heard any of their music yet, but I suppose they could be at least considered, if they really have prog elements.

They don't sound like Coheed. It usually helps to listen to the band before you judge them.

They certainly sound nothing like Coheed. They have their progressive
moments, but I don't know if they have enough to be seriously
considered for addittion. However, discussions about it can't cause any
harm.
More importantly though we should all make sure that a related band I
proposed, The Dear Hunter, get cleared for addittion quickly.

I would personally be interested in hearing something from them, in case they could fit in Heavy Prog. If they have similarities with TMV, who are in HP, there could be a case made for them. Any chance of getting some samples?
