   This topic is to discuss my favorite metal genre: Doom! The genre has such a wide variety of sounds. The only thread that ties the genre together is the slowness. For example, other then the tempo 3rd and the Mortal sound nothing like Crowbar. This makes it so great! Plus instead of trying to play faster then humanly possible like in extreme metal (which can admittadly be cool sometimes) the songs have room to breathe. Some of my favorite doom bands: Black Sabbath, Trouble, Place of Skulls, Candlemass, Sleep, Electric Wizard, Sunn0))). As you can see I tend more toward trad/epic/stoner doom, but I love drone, doom-death and funeral doom much also. Recently I discovered While Heaven Wept a great epic doom band who have a unique sound, the closest I can come to describing it would be to say it sounds (sort of) like Candlemass if they had Sonata Arctica`s vocalist. It is very, very beautiful music whilst being sad at the same time. let me here the opinions of other doom metal fans!

	i love all kindsa doom.....especially the sludge offshoot (already has a thread so i wont talk abt it), but i love esp funeral and experimental/drone doom. Gotta check out: Sunn O))) - Black One / White 1 & 2 / Flight of the Behemoth Esoteric Thergothorn Skepticism Mazuraan doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom this stuff is soooooo f**ked!!!!!
