They underwent a lot of line-up changes, so I don't know if these guys are the same as listed above. The source of this photo is also Discogs.

Thanks for thinking of us, but I'd ask that you please refer to the Artist Submission Procedure page if you want anyone to pick this up (an original biography is crucial).

BIO

The Locomotive were a Birmingham based outfit, with a musical style blending Classical, Jazz and Psychedelic Rock. The original line-up included Chris Wood, soon to be famous with Traffic, and Spooky Tooth's drummer Mike Kellie.

The initial group was founded in 1965, as the Kansas City Seven, by trumpet player Jim Simpson, enlisting singer Danny King, Chris Wood and Brian "Monk" Finch on saxes, organist Richard Storey, bassist Peter Allen, and drummer Mike Kellie. While turning from jazz to R&B and soul, they adopted The Locomotive as new moniker, undergoing several line-up changes, and by the end of 1966, after Wood left to form Traffic, only Simpson remained from the original line-up. Then he left the band to become their manager, while keyboardist/vocalist Norman Haines took over as front man. With Mick Hincks on bass, Bob Lamb on drums, Mick Taylor on trumpet, and calling themselves just LOCOMOTIVE, they signed with Parlophone, and their second single, Rudi's In Love, (a ska song written by Haines) went to the 25 spot on the UK Singles Chart by the end of 1968.

Seizing that bit of success, they recorded their only full-length album, We Are Everything You See, produced by Gus Dudgeon in a more progressive style, which caused that the record company delayed its release until 1970. Haines had left in 1969, forming the Norman Haines Band. He died in 2021, at the age of 75.

Hincks and Lamb, with newcomers John Caswell and Keith Millar, released the single Roll Over Mary, and renamed themselves as The Dog That Bit People in 1970. They released an album in 1971 before splitting up. Hincks and Lamb joined another local band, Tea And Symphony, before Lamb moved to the Steve Gibbons Band.

12 months ago Gordy set section to Move.

The album was actually recorded in late 1968, so I'm guessing the next option for these guys would be Proto Prog?

That is correct, although the JR/F team is willing to reconsider them if they get rejected there.

They're also in the same camp as Traffic and Family which are both eclectic here so maybe that would be a good place? Lots of jazz. I voted to move them there so i'd do so if we get them and clear them already!

There were two earlier suggestions for these guys from 2009 and 2010. Both threads ended with short, three-word sentences, and two of those three words were 'Proto' and 'Prog' in both cases! It certainly seems that that's the category where they belong.
