I'm wondering what people have thought about in regard to the music for their own funerals, of course we won't be able to witness the event, so it is a bit of a fantasy as to how we'd like it to be. I'd also be interested if anyone has any readings that they'd like. Anyway, so far my music choices would be: Hymns Amazing Grace The Day Thou Gavest Lord Has Ended Other Music Going Home by Annie Haslam (at the beginning of the service) The Great Gig in the Sky by Pink Floyd (for the committal) As for readings, I don't know yet.

it’s never changed since I first heard it. My first choice for a funeral song is Jerry Cantrell’s beautiful cover of Willy Nelson’s “I’ve Seen All This World I Care to See”. 🖤

I'll take the full Thick As A Brick to accompany my illegal funeral pyre in the middle of the Ardennes woods Sounds like an OK manner for this atheist pagan I am to leave this bloody world. I did hesitate between that and being buried 9ft Underground with the Careavan tune of the same name .

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

Ashes are Burning by Renaissance, obviously, followed by the theme tune to Happy Days.

At the beginning of the service, when the coffin enters the audience chamber: Gnidrolog - Long Live Man Dead (not necessarily the whole song, until the 3:40 mark will be fine) At the end of the service: Oaksenham - Afterdeath Fantasy I think I leave other choices to my surviving dependants.

ELP - From the Beginning, Lucky Man, C'est La Vie, Take a pebble Not because of any real lyrical significance but just because they are some of the calmer tunes and I like them. I guess if I was into cruel jokes I'd pick some more of the hardcore tunes like Hymn, Time and a Place, Tarkus, The Three Fates or Fanfare for the Common Man.

Well, whatever song it is, it will have to be quite loud. I will be dead, after all.

Well, they call them "wakes" for a reason.

It's my funeral - so to speak - so I won't mind if it goes on too long.
