Having a hard time locating a link to any forum postings about their passings. I'm falling behind with the heavy work schedule, etc.. that I did not even know Greg Lake died last month until today. And on top of that, John Wetton. It's been a horrible day but I plan to celebrate their lives by listening to their music this week!!!
WTF, the greats are starting to leave :-(  |

It's brought up a ton of feelings in me, all last year starting with Emerson. I hope it always inspires us to be our best, since they aimed for it themselves.

ASIA was the best album in the musically dull early 80īs, it saved prog and thus entire rockīnīroll from boredom. The first 2 albums will be spinned again, like back in the day :) And so will be the Crimson stuff too.
John is a legend and a hero, master of melody and harmony, distinctive and pure beautiful and manly voice, like Gregīs. Thanks for the music, Greg and John. RIP |

Sad indeed. I've realized that I need to pay much more attention to the ones who are still alive. Unfortunately it's only a matter of time though. For them and for us.
So we do the right thing and listen to great music! If we're lucky, we may even write some. I like to think that once in a while I almost get close even though I know that's just me and my fantasies. |

A very very close lifelong friend of mine died suddenly and inexplicably last year, and I inherited his large prog record collection.
Last night, feeling depressed, i pulled out one I had never heard, at random, and put it on - It is and it isn't by Gordon Haskell. It has John playing bass on it - gave me a very strange feeling.

Within about a year, we lost nearly all of the old masters of the prog bass guitar....Squire, Lake and Wetton. It was a grievous loss.
I compare the feeling to being on the Grey Havens in the end of the Lord of the Rings, watching the white ships sailing off into the West, never to return. Give thanks for the players who remain and the new talent who take their places. And, see as many concerts as you can afford...thank goodness for online videos! |
