Personally I struggle with all the different genres and sub-genres people tend to label bands with nowadays. So I had to go on Wiki to find a list of bands that would be identified as math rock. From that list only a few stand out as bands I have heard of and enjoy, they were:

- Converge (although I would say they are more metalcore/mathcore than math rock)
- The Mars Volta (again would have thought prog rock was a better description for them)
- Protest the Hero (more prog metal in my book)
- Rolo Tomassi (mathcore more so??)
- Russian Cirlces (post rock in my book)

Not sure if any of them are actual math rock bands in my books ... I tried Tongue

Using the PA band list as a reference these are bands I like enough to purchase their albums.
The point being that if I like them enough to buy their albums then I like them enough to recommend them.

Echoes And Signals
Gifts From Enola
If These Trees Could Talk
Jardin De La Croix
Mogwai
Russian Circles
The Samuel Jackson Five
Sleepmakeswaves
Tides Of Man
