Topic: I'm betting most people here haven't heard Eskaton Posted: August 21 2015 at 18:33 |
I thought I'd take the opportunity to see if most people here have heard Eskaton's Four Visions. Really seems to me to be one of the strongest non-major player prog albums. It seems to go past the bondaries of Zuehl, in a way that I think only Kultivator does (into more mainstream rock territory).

Eskaton are fantastic, and should get much more love here than they do. I know Zeuhl is an acquired taste, but they are definitely more accessible than other bands in the same genre - also on account of their use of French rather any invented language.

Eskaton are my favorite none Magma Zeuhl band and 4 Visions is their masterpiece. Top 10 all time album.

Eskaton are awesome. The next two albums are not quite as good but still great. The best Zeuhl band after Magma IMO.

I guess no one's going to confess they haven't heard Four Visions yet.

^ I'll confess. I do however own Kultivator's Barndomens Stiger and like it very much.

I've heard it, but I didn't love it. I'll dig it out later and reassess.

I've heard of this album for 20 years, but I don't believe I've actually heard it. Looks like there's Youtube of the entire album, so I shall give it a listen!

One of my favourite french albums no doubt about it. Now the question is have you heard their other two? I agree they are not as intense as 4 visions but they are excellent, Kultivator too

I've heard Four Visions. Was a little underwhelmed back then, but I probably would enjoy it more if I listened to it now.

Listening to it right now via you tube......and I had not heard of it before. I'm surprised if it's that well liked that no one mentioned it before on one of the recent threads.

I'm not sure which recent threads you mean but actually Eskaton have been mentioned countless times around here, I remember them participating in many polls and many other threads. They are also one of the most well known bands around the people who wants to get into zehul.

That's interesting....I have been around here a lot the last 2 years and I don't recall them being mentioned. Must have missed it.

They were in the Classic section of the Battle of the Albums, but unfortunately went out in the first turn, in spite of getting a good amount of votes.

Definitely not my cup of tea, like Magma i can´t stand the vocals, too annoying for me.
The band instrumentally is very competent and adventurous, but the voices ruined everything (Like Magma and Shub - Nigurath), i prefer bands like Dün.

I have 1st and 3rd. Want to get ardeur
|
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.
