Topic: E-Mail problem.... Posted: January 28 2015 at 17:24 |
Looking for some tech help from all you computer savvy people. A couple of days ago I started having a problem accessing my e-mail page. I can log on to both my yahoo and Comcast accounts but when I click on the e-mail link it says 'Page can't Be Displayed'...it's a standard Windows /IE error page. It seems to be the only issue with my e-mail sites and I have no problem with any other web sites or general surfing of the net. I have no problem with the computer at the office , this is happening just on my home lap top. Is this a Windows/IE problem..? This is what comes up: This page can’t be displayed - Make sure the web address https://login.comcast.net is correct.
- Look for the page with your search engine.
- Refresh the page in a few minutes.
- Check that all network cables are plugged in.
- Verify that airplane mode is turned off.
- Make sure your wireless switch is turned on.
- See if you can connect to mobile broadband.
- Restart your router.

This could be a number of problems. First try clearing your cache, which can be found in internet settings. If that doesn't work, try opening it in a different browser such as Google Chrome (which you should probably use instead of IE anyway). If that doesn't work, it's probably an issue with your internet service provided and you could try giving them a call.

Thanks Andy.....I'll try the cache thing , and several other people have also told me to stop using IE also and try chrome or Mozilla....do you like chrome the best for browsers? This isn't malware or a virus then..?

Personally I find chrome to be a faster and much more secure browser than IE. And I doubt it's a virus/malware. It wouldn't hurt to run a scan if you have antivirus software, but I've never heard of malware that blocks connections to sites like that. I'm sure it can happen, but it's unlikely.

I use Chrome but have had problems with it - once when I kept getting a blank screen and it intermittently crashes on this laptop. I also use Firefox which I have found to be more stable.
Anything but IE basically.

Yea, I keep both installed. I prefer chrome's speed and extensions, but firefox does provide a little more stability.

I'm having more internet access problems....Comcast and ATT/Yahoo mail won't load and the error message reads... 'This page cannot be displayed...check your address, refresh ,etc... I can access it with Firefox but I'm usually getting pop up ads redirecting me when I use Firefox that I have to close out. Now when I click on just yahoo.com I also get the same error message .."This page cannot be displayed..." It won't even bring up the main yahoo search page...... Yet I have no problem with Prog Archives or most other web sites like Wiki or You Tube... what's going on here...?
