New e-bulletin from the band:

The release date of Sounds That Can't Be Made draws ever closer and the staff at Racket Records are working as hard as they can to lovingly pack the CD's that you've ordered from us.

We hope that the UK CDs will arrive in time for the start of the tour on Sunday, with the rest of the world shortly afterwards. Ideally we would like you all to receive it on the same day whether you live in Bolton, Berlin or Buenos Aires but we're afraid that the various postal services round the world don't all work at the same pace :) Please rest assured we are doing the best we can.

In lieu of this, we would like to share the opening song of the UK tour with you - this song is called 'Gaza' - and it's long! You can listen to it now on our YouTube channel.
www.youtube.com/MarillionOnline

This version is a LOW QUALITY MP3 for advance listening purposes only. If you like it and haven't already ordered the CD, please consider doing so. We can only continue to make music to this standard if we are able to make a living from selling it. If you have pre-ordered the album or intend to buy the download you have our sincere thanks.

Back to rehearsing now - we'll see you all soon and thanks again for your support.

Mark, h, Ian, Pete and Steve

I've got Gaza on now, and it sounds spectacular. I am really looking forward to this album, and seeing them live next SundayBig smile

By God, that Rothery solo 13 minutes in is spine tingling. The whole thing is the sound of a band utterly at home with each other, and producing some incredible sounds.

This is going to be a classic, and good to see them tackle such a difficult subject lyrically so well.

Hate is a bit strong. I am jealous though. Perhaps they can come to Australia after Seattle.

The song 'Gaza' is awesome, listening now...

I suspect the only way they would go there is if the fans prepaid it, in much the same way as North American fans did a while back.

Both Gaza & Power are awesome. I am really biting at the bit to get this one.

The first minutes of Power are incredible ... The soundscapes are majestic. Gaza is really strong too. Probably their third greatest album of the H period, with Brave and Marbles. Maybe even better than Marbles (OH NO HE DIDNT :@)

Pre-ordered deluxe version arrived in the post today.

After a day slaving away in the garden, it's finally on now. Utterly superb stuff, and really looking forward to tomorrow night's gig.

Getting towards the end of first listen.

I will take my time to review this for the site (a good job, as time is short anyway!), but I have to say that the m usic lives up to the anticipation in spades.

Kelly absolutely soars throughout, the production is easily the finest ever heard on a Marillion album, H's lyrics are utterly spot on and he has rarely sounded better, and Rothery is bang on form, whilst the rhythm section is as it ever was.

The deluxe version artwork is stunning.

In feel, it is very much like Afraid Of Sunlight - a collection of songs which give a collective whole, and a collective stunner.

All in all, well worth the wait. I will give it loads of listens prior to a review, but this is really gearing up to be up there with Marbles & Brave as a classic Marillion album.

If you didn't pre-order, get it on general release.

Can't wait for the gig tomorrow night!

lazy and I are tight......he knows what I mean.

and yes I agree we would have to spend some money to get them here. But maybe this album will get them the extra cash and exposure that will make them come here.

Got mine first thing yesterday and just posted my review. Wonderful album. It's probably too much to expect there to be no backlash against the band for Gaza - you really can't say anything about that situation without offending someone - but I hope it at least isn't too much of one because it's about as even-handed a song as it could get without abandoning the idea of singing from the point of view of a Palestinian youth in the first place.

Sounds like an awesome setlist - I knew they were doing Gaza as the set opener for the UK shows this tour and I'm glad since it's a superb song and must be awesome live. I also heard that they were going to play at least four songs from the new album at every show - wonder whether they'll mix the others up or stick with STCBM/Power/Sky Above the Rain for the other shows?

As for the rest of the set: I tend to prefer Warm Wet Circles/That Time of the Night if they're going to do a Fish-era pick because I think H really nails that one, but Sugar Mice ain't half bad either, and the prospect of seeing them do the This Town triptych live AND The Great Escape has me salivating. Also interesting that Happiness Is the Road only has one song on the setlist.

Anyone going to the London gig next Sunday?

Glad you enjoyed the gig Steve.  It's my turn tonight, I'll be at Manchester Academy to see the band for the first time in many a year.  I'm really looking forward to this.
Do you think I can expect to see/hear the same set as at Cardiff or do they tend to change things a bit?

My understanding is that they like to drop in the odd surprise.
