Europe has some absolutely beautiful buildings, so much history. Exploring in Europe is something on my bucket list.

Hehe, thanks, that's the only time I've ever done that however, you really need to be alert when traipsing around in abandoned buildings, and being able to hear the sound of other people, cracking floors, alarms, anything is invaluable.

This was the place I actually listened to Budd's Abandoned Cities in. It's an old coal breaker in rural Pennsylvania, they've unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on who you are) started demolishing it. It was one of my favorite explores to date.

Thanks Alex - I really enjoyed those. I like wandering round old decaying buildings and machinery. Up here in the Northern part of Denmark I see more of old tractors in abandoned barns, ooooold creaky mills and run down farms that look like they would be the ideal set to a rendition of 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'.
Spooky and beautiful all at once.

Nothin' wrong with that...in the right context of course.

tastefully taken... funny... Raff and I were at our favorite Indian place yesterday and sitting close to us was this beautiful family. Indian of course LOL that had the two most precious and beautiful young children. A boy and a girl. I have very ..very.. soft spot in my heart for children and thought for a second of snapping off a picture.. but how to do explain that without coming off as a complete creep...

I find the best way is to first say "Excuse me, I don't mean to intrude..." then introduce yourself and say that you are a photographer and wondered if they would mind if you took a couple of quick family photos for your portfolio. Hopefully you have more than an iPhone so you actually look like a photographer if you get my drift. If they ask what you are going to use them for, just tell them you had a portfolio of portraits and you think they would be a great addition to it. They will either say yes or no, take your cue and move on.

These aren't of kids, but it was a complete stranger that I saw while I was driving. I pulled over explained myself and asked if he'd mind. He said no so I shot 3 or 4 pics, thanked him, jumped back in the car and off I went.

Here are a few where I asked the parents if they'd mind and they said sure.

I do that because I am the world's worst photographer, LOL.

I think photos of other people's kids are fine, as long as you don't become one of those guys who hangs around kids' playgrounds sporting a camera with a very large telephoto lens. I saw a guy doing that once at the Alice in Wonderland playground in Central Park and it was very very creepy.

If anyone sees that kind of behaviour, it should be brought to the attention of the authorities immediately.

But back to urban decay...or in my case, rural decay.
It's no DeLorean...but it would have been an excellent rebuild project. I have no idea what kind of car it was.

This was many years ago and I was less aware of the need to take immediate action.

I think life has taught us all to be aware of that kind of stuff...or the potential for it.

Sadly, yes, which is why I reacted instantaneously to that idiot a few weeks ago.
