You mean because two of them are dead?

Hi,

Two of them?

Chris, Jon, Steve, Rick and Bill ... and then Alan ... which two?

Unless you mean folks from the original group with Peter Banks.
He did say the original group, so that would be Squire and Banks. Neither Howe or Wakeman were in the original group.

Indeed yes, the original line-up of the band was Jon Anderson, Peter Banks, Bill Bruford, Tony Kaye, and Chris Squire.

It really is sad because Steve's Love Is, Rick's The Red Planet and Jon's 1000 Hands are all great LP's. There's enough great material there to make a really nice Yes album. Didn't happen that way. It never will.

But we will always have Close To The Edge.

Perfectly said, all of this.

Exactly. And it was deleted, so it was Moshkito who had originally said about the original line-up.

From the mid eighties or so until maybe five years ago or so Yes were my favorite band. I no longer really have favorites but if I did they would still be it. I kind of jumped off the bandwagon(if there even ever was a Yes bandwagon) after Chris passed away and even more so more recently. They just don't excite me much anymore. I saw ARW in 2016 or 2017 and Yes proper in 2015 and that was it for me. ARW is history now but the real Yes keeps trying to cash their paychecks. They are obviously in it for themselves and their retirement plan which is funny since they don't seem to want to retire. Anyway, take Yes out of the oven because they are done.

With what they have been doing recently, extensive touring and putting out endless live records without any new material, they are not exciting me either. But that could change if the put out a new studio album.

The way I see it, there's no need for Yes to record a new studio album when Jon Anderson continues to release a whole string of superb solo and collaborative albums going back over the last ten years, not to mention Jon's recent collaborations with New Age artist Michael Byrne, which haven't yet appeared on an album.

4 stars 2010: Anderson/Wakeman - The Living Tree
4 stars 2011: Jon Anderson - Survival & Other Stories
5 stars 2011: Jon Anderson - Open (E.P.)
4 stars 2015: AndersonPonty Band - Better Late Than Never
4 stars 2016: Anderson/Stolt - Invention of Knowledge
4 stars 2019: Jon Anderson - 1000 Hands

Jon Anderson's "Open" E.P. sounds just as good to me as anything Yes have ever recorded.  Thumbs Up

Now that they are not able to tour, I hope that they are taking this time to write new material Tongue

Where did you hear this? I saw a recent interview with them, and no mention of a new studio album...

A new Yes album will happen. It will sound like that Arc Of Light album but with Steve Howe. Fans will hate it.

I'm not going to like it if it sounds like Arc of Light, that's for sure.

Nice! I am really excited for a new Yes album. Their new meterial is really good, surprisingly so for a band so past their prime. I think that this new album will be a serious blessing to the prog rock community. I will certainly buy a copy.Big smileTongueSmileWinkLOLClapShockedStar
