Do you guys know if there is a general chat/discussion thread for free flowing conversations on all matters? I mean, this one clearly seems about just posting random stuff (not very conversational) and just resembles many of the popular topics in JRF in terms of the kinds of content (the comments seem interchangeable). There was the Shed which I felt too young for before, now I am of age, but also despite me having a house, shed, and gardens, I have no green-thumb and that seemed to be the focus of the discussion often. There was the Velvet Room, and The Shed when I joined. One was very silly, and the other was too "old" for me. Then I think the Shred was created as a more mature version of the Velvet Room and maybe a little less "matured" than The Shed (a happy medium) after I was looking for something like this, but then those Velvet Rooms ceased and The Shred just became like that. You might remember the history of these things better.
Maybe I will make one in General Discussions but I would rather just revive an old one, since I think if I did it in Just for Fun it would become post random nonsense thread like this (nothing wrong with that, just not what I am interested in, nor do I "get" the appeal, but maybe it is an acquired taste). On the other hand, I should spend less time at PA than I need to to fulfil my duties. Edited by Logan - June 05 2023 at 12:38 |

Yea, If I did another topic I know i would the equivalent of crickets chirping and tumbleweeds rolling by. This whole forum is dying slowly bit seems with various people trying to keep it on life-support.
Where do I go with this comment? Okay, I was on a bridge over track tracks standing next a to a very plus-sized individual. It might have been one of you, or maybe that person in the picture in that post of mine in my recent Just For Fun topic that you guys opted not to participate in. Below there was a tram speeding along approaching the bridge that I and the oversized one stood on. I saw further down the tracks in the not too distant distance a group of ducklings slowly crossing the tracks ahead. One little one was on crutches and so very immobile. I knew that if I did nothing, at least one of those poor ducklings might be in serious danger. The tram might just pass overhead if none were on the actual tracks, but there was a risk! Seeing that the railing was rotting on the bridge, I acted fast and gave fatty a shove. He fell onto the tracks. The tram driver tried to stop, but he hit that very oversized man and the tram derailed. There was blood, blubber and carnage everywhere. I looked in the distance and witnessed the ducks as they safely and successfully crossed the tracks. I smiled, happy and content in the knowledge that I had done the right thing. I know that Icarium likes philosophy, so there's my take on a trolley problem. That was fun. :) |

OMG, an admin wandered into the Just for Fun area!
I thought there was a conversation somewhere on one of the earlier pages of this thread. I don't know if it's still there or transformed itself back into random sentences. As you can tell, this region of the forum seems to attract the random sentences crowd. It's definitely an acquired taste. I couldn't tell you where the best place to have a free-flowing conversation on all matters would be. I certainly wouldn't mind if it were in Just for Fun or the General Discussions area. I guess it depends on how serious the conversations would be. I worry that some of those might devolve into the realm of politics and they tend to never end well seeing how polarized the world currently is. In the back of my mind, I have often wanted to start some non-music conversations, but I have too much on my plate to commit to something like that at this time. If only I was retired... But please don't take the random sentences crowd to be a special clique. Everybody is welcome here.

An admin wandered into a bar. THUD!
Yeah, I wouldn't want politics nor really serious discussions. Those politics ones depressed me as you get a lot of anger. I want friendly banter. More like, actually, come to think of it, exactly as this thread has been. This thread will do just fine for me even if just for fun. And I do have random things to add to the randomness. One does not get into Tool, one must let Tool get into you. |

I've got some tools, but the only way they can get into me is if I eat them or take pictures of them that I can load through the USB port in my bellybutton.
