Thanks Jim. The voices in Barraba seem fantastic, mystic The atmosphere reminds me a little bit of tthe MISA
CRIOLLA (1977) ![]() I'm sure you must already know. If you don't, take some time to listen. It's a latin american mass like no other, with guitars, percussions and clavichord. Somewhere a little sister of the first Latte e miele ?

No sweat Jim, if I want to suggest bands I´ll go to the proper thread. These were just some findings, that I thought you guys should hear ![]() That Le Group X record´s really got me going! Listened to the tracks again this morning, and I have totally convinced myself that I desperately need this one...

![]() Already mentionned this one from 1977. Strange album really, very hard to describe. A sort of chamber prog music with guitars, bass, drums, piano, violins, synths, choirs, bassoon (alla Lindsay Cooper). etc. You can find element of classical and popular music, reminding me the Opus Avantra or Stormy Six's style but lighter, less intellectual. The melodies are nice and the arrangements full of surprises. In short, an excellent record wich deserves a reissue in CD.

Anyone wanting to check out some heavier, modern RPI should check out PANDORA's debut.I re-visited that tonight and forgot how good that record is.The bass is incredible, almost ground-shaking at times(haha).

Then we are just 2 individuals who love stuffing our noses in everything me and you - well beak in your case
![]() Curiosity didn´t kill the cat, it only made it smarter, and in addition also brought it a huge number of new RPI albums.

I don't completly agree with you. Many are curious and what I propose is sometimes impossible to buy. On this forum the most important job is the fact of Jim, Andrea, etc. Repeat well known names again and again is essential to keep the memory of this music alive. When you think that in the best Paris' records you can't find the essentials of Banco, Le Orme or PFM, That's a reason to be worried. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say in my bad english.
I once rescued a reason.

I think I get what you´re saying Pierre, and I agree that the RPI team is doing a fantastic job introducing people to this wonderful music - and essentially also teaching several of us about what was going on at the time (Just read Andrea´s brilliant blog
![]() And I guess you´re right, sometimes these obscure albums are next to impossible to get a hold of, BUT if we all here can help generate enough buzz about a certain release, then maybe we will start seeing reissues of some fantastic music - that maybe was destined for complete obscurity otherwise. Nobody around this place should be interested in good music, that gets lost just because we "forgot" about it.

Our job is multi-fold and I recognize that. We need to have the legends here and let the reader know who they are, we need to be watching for new artists who fit the definition, and we need to scour the far netherlands to unearth the old gems which have not been added yet. As you gents are proving there are a few of those left to look at. Not all are going to fit our definition but we'll keep hunting. The Italian prog site (Croce) has many of these bands although not all are progressive, some are pop groups, etc... It's an archival database, so old and new are both important. No band is too obscure, no band it irrelevent, so long as they meet the Def they are of interest to the team. |
