I found that quite moving at the end, which is really why it's a favourite (and he reminds me of my adolescent daughter a bit). I think the ideas are really good for every episode of the first season (including utilising The Cage in one), but there are flaws. I sometimes find it amazing how lax the security on the Enterprise is (today I think audiences might expect tighter security). Like yesterday I re-watched Lazarus, and how Lazarus was able to roam the ship and so easily transport down to the planet at the peril of the multiverse doesn't seem likely. And there are sometimes more logical solutions than what they opt for, but would be more complicated to write and film in the time limits (then there's the editing) so the drama can be a bit lazy when it comes to resolving issues. It's fun to see obvious stunt-doubles fighting. Ah, but I don't like to nit-pick. It's still very enjoyable and highly creative. I never, or rarely I should say, found the later Star Trek series as satisfyingly imaginative.
