We had to keep Scollari, the 2002 champ coach and who's taking Portugal high. Now, there's no other possibility - to go with the Portuguese team.

Noticebale, the great hug Robinho gave Zidane in the end of the game! Great sportsmanship!!!

Yeah, they also did that on the 15 mins break.. Don't know what for..

Yeah, not like Argentina and Germany who started to fight when it ended. What a shame.

They play together in Real Madrid and must be good friends... or at least, the young Robinho is taking Zidane as a model.

EDIT: I'll support now Scollari... what a lesson to CBF chairman that didn't make a contract with him after 2002 conquest, preferring his protegé, Parreira. Shocked

Bizarre.......France looked like Torquay Utd's reserve team in the group games.......now, it's as if they've been crunched by a chiropractor, and have learnt how to play fluently again.....they looked amazing against Brazil.......and, clearly, Zidane has been taking his monkey gland pills again.........if they carry on like that, they'll walk the cup.......(as I think I said about the Spain, Argentina & the Czechs earlier..Embarrassed...)

Zidane is from another planet, his timming is impeccable, he knows when to pause and when to put fifth speed, perfect paases.

And Ribery....well Brazilian defence needed a motorcycle to catch him.

Nice game, sorry for Brazil, but France was absolutely superior, they could have easily scored two more.

Brazil left me some doubts, they insisted playing by air with a taller defence and Ronaldinho was not in his real level.

Great game.

But let's take a moment to reflect on Sven.....paid, let's not forget, somewhere in the region of £4m a year.....so you expect something half decent for that, some elementary appreciation of tactics, at least.........imagine the situation.......WC quarter final.........a man short.........3 minutes from the end of extra time.........penalty shoot out a very likely probability........one substitution remaining.......so, the obvious thing, what you & I would do (albeit we're not being paid £4m a year for our tactical knowhow) would be to bring on your best penalty taker of those left on the bench.......(well, call me naive, but that's what I would do).......so, Sven, the £4m a year man, decides that Jamie Carragher, the 4th choice centre back, is his secret weapon in this situation.......he has other midfield players to choose from......and, God help us, at least the 3rd choice goalie knows how to wellie the ball, and might have a chance of scoring........but, no, Sven, the tactical genius, has to go for the 4th choice centre back.......HAS THIS MAN NO BRAIN ?????.........c'mon, the t**t deserves to be crucified for this decision alone.......although God knows there are many, many other offences to be taken into consideration..........the writing was on the wall long, long ago, but the little troll has learnt nothing from losing in 2002 & 2004........and, what's worse, before all us England fans think Hurrah!! - no more Sven........next up is Sven McClaren.........same again........but we can't sack him for at least 4 years.........we England fans are born to suffer.....but given a moderately intelligent manager, we could do a lot better...........so my offer is, for £4m a year........I'll guarantee to do better than Sven......(and he has lousy taste in women too........his Nancy bird was described by Wogan this week as "an old boiler".......and that's a compliment.......Big smile ) Sir Alf's ashes could have done a better job..........

The thing is every manager since 1966 (Alf Ramsey famously made a substitution cockup agianst W. Germany in the 1970 world cup so even he wasn't immune) has failed. Sometimes not even qualifing in the first place.
ultimately it is the players who have let everyone down Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, Cole so called dream midfield are the same players any manager would take. But they can't even pass to one another (two of them couldn't even score from the penalty spot) none of this has anything whatsoever to do with the manager (whoever he maybe).
Unlike TonyR I think the only two players to have done themselfs any favours in this tournament  are  Crouch and Hargreaves... Hargreaves had another good game against Portugal and Crouch held the ball up quite well.

Agreed, Krusty, I thought Hargreaves was our our best player today; especially he made a couple of winger's breaks into the box that I recall....

If Crouch and Hargreaves are the best England players in Germany, then they are going to have real big problems. Two duffers if i ever i saw them. Beckham is done, and Terry and Ferdinand have been found out to be only subbuteo class.

The problem with the England  is, they played their best players, but not their best team. The midfeild was/is a mess, no natural goal scorer, Wean (pronounced wane) Rooney, once again spat the dummy out of his pram, and Gary Neville!!!!!......WHY?

But, the good news is, Scotland laughed itself silly watching this inept team from down south blow it big style,AGAIN. Stuff the game, let's just take penalties, and never again shall scumland win a game.

Final offering............i bet the English cause more damage than the Russians ever did in Germany tonight and tomorrow.

ps   Scotsman Andy Murray won his tennis game.

pps England got whitewashed at the cricket..........suicide rate hits an all time high down south.

Calm down guys, it's only a game (or stupidly high paid sport).  I've never seen so many grown men cry on television before!

I couldn't really care less now.  I don't like France, Italy, Portugal or Germany.

Germany will win it.  Its fixed!

Congratulations to Andy Murray for beating Andy Roddick, nice one!  He was outstanding!

The sensation seen in the streets is a bit of sadness and much of mockery toward Parreira, some players and mainly TV. We, Brazilians, have a good sense of laughing about ourselves. Embarrassed

In the other side, I felt few identity between this Brazilian team and our people. There will be no plane home - after dismissed 5 or 6 players will go to Italy, others will go to Spain, France, England, only 3 will come home. If it was to lose like haunted kids why not go to the Cup with young and unkown players that play here, at least some old phantasy could be seen.

I wasn't surprised at all, I picked France to beat Brazil.

But Rooney sent for that tackle was vicious, I was surprised that Gerrard and Lampard missed the Pks.
