The were showing the moments before Saddams hanging on the news a few seconds ago. Apparently they made a video of it. But luckily they didn't show the actual death. But still I do not want to see them puting the noose around his neck.

He should have been sleeping well awhile ago, but noooo he has to go into Iraq and "finish" what his dad did. It was a stupid thing to do.

This still won't solve any of the problems in Iraq.

This execution was so quickly done, that it worse than a murder. Ever heard of proper appeals????.... (even if Saddam was not the kind to allow appeals).
I propose Bush goes on trial (the same one that tried Saddam or the one in The Hague) for the many more deaths of Iraqians than 30 years of Saddam regime.
Pinochet dies in bed because he was pro-US (or anti-communist) and Saddam is executed because he was anti-US (and at first pro-communist >> the Baas party was of communist obedience in the 60 and 70's)
This murder is properly scandalous.(more in the manner than on the whole of the charges)
The least they could've done is put him to a firing squad as he had requested.
And this execution is only the start of more unrest.

Bertrand Russell did a trial of LBJ for war crimes in late 60s... no effective action only the legitimate issue.
Talking about Saddam's execution, I think he should die in prison as old as possible, gathering manure, ironing clothes, sweeping floors, etc. Now he became a martyr!

Agreed. What would they achieve either by execute him while the trials never go well. Won't it raise suspicion among others ?

I agree with you.
Other opinions in the same vein:
FATHER FEDERICO LOMBARDI, VATICAN SPOKESMAN
"A capital punishment is always tragic news, a reason for sadness, even if it deals with a person who was guilty of grave crimes...
The killing of the guilty party is not the way to reconstruct justice and reconcile society. On the contrary, there is a risk that it will feed a spirit of vendetta and sow new violence."
RICHARD DICKER, HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH
"Saddam Hussein was responsible for massive human rights violations, but that can't justify giving him the death penalty, which is a cruel and inhuman punishment...
The test of a government's commitment to human rights is measured by the way it treats its worst offenders...
It defies imagination that the Appeals Chamber could have thoroughly reviewed the 300-page judgment and the defence's written arguments in less than three weeks' time... The appeals process appears even more flawed than the trial..."

Here's some I think FoxNews coverage of the execution. Cuts off before the hanging, though.

Please do not post images in this thread which people may find upsetting or distasteful. Links are better, as they give people the option of choosing not to use them.

Anyone else wish to take back the past 4 years and have Saddam still in power?
I know I do.

How about the past 16 years so we could take him out when the first George Bush went to Iraq for a good reason.

Sorry, RA but you obviously don't know what you are talking about.
Canada has two equal official languages. English and French. (The majority of Quebecers, for example, speak French as their mother tongue.)
We also have many immigrants whose first language is neither English nor French, and the most ethnically-diverse city in the world -- Toronto.
Get your facts straight before making pronouncements about other people's countries, please!

On topic: I am against capital punishment, even for murdering dictators. (Though if anyone ever deserved to die for his crimes against his own people, Saddam surely was one such.)
