I was right behind our cricket team last year in the Ashes - because we were a good professional side playing hard-nosed & intelligent cricket.
I was right behind the England RU team in 2003 - because we were a good professional side playing hard (and, for a while at least) entertaining & skillful rugby.
But this lot at the footie WC -
There's nothing attractive about them, nothing to admire. They're surly, arrogant, overpaid to an obscene level - and, compared to most of the other teams there, one-dimensional & extremely tedious to watch. And, they think they're gonna win the damn thing!..........they certainly don't represent the England in which I am pleased to live.......

I agree. I also supported us in the Cricket (I prefer Cricket to Football anyhow) and was very pleased to see us beat those Aussies! Just a shame we've turned so lame since then.
I'm not a Rugby fan, but I'd want them to win too (there are far less decent Rugby teams around anyway and who wants, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand to win?)
But I wholeheartedly agree with you about the England Football team. It's not just the overpaid, boring, no good factor, it's the fans and television coverage too. If I see that John Terry advert again, I may have to throw the television somewhere! Every single advert is based around the football it seems. I don't remember any Rugby or Cricket adverts at the time...
Such a waste of the taxpayers money.

I am very disappointed about the Brasilian team, if the Ghana players had been a bit more lucky in the first half .. but then it's always the same, the big team is helped by the referee and his team, what an obvious off side second goal ! And Ronaldinho, what's wrong with him .. ? Brasil will meet a very inspired French team, loaded with regained self-confidence, I am looking forward to all 1/4 finals games, especially Germany against Argentina, fuerza MESSI!! |
I think that justice was done after that terrible off-side call at the very 1st minute of the game, with Ronaldo alone, in front of Ghana's goalkeeper and so the second goal was a compensation. If Adriano was a bit lucky or less selfish the game should become a friendly with less than 15 minutes.

I go for Argentina but "Ayala the best defender in the world" .. I don't like his ''bandit'-like style of defending, remember his 'slapping in the face' against a Mexican forward player during a corner, awful behaviour (like Dutch Boulharuz, 'The Cannibal' nicknamed in Germany, against Portuguese Ronaldo). This behaviour of Ayala is an insult and disgrace to football and should have been punished immediately after the game by the FIFA!!

Ugh! so negative -- think positive for once, do you really think they are not playing at their best on purpose?

I dont know about you my argentinian friends, but Im a bit scared...Mexico was a hard team to beat, but inferiour non the less...Germany is strong!!! And the b*****ds always play better under presure...and they are locals! This will be a titans match! Of course I want Argentina to win...but this will be incredibly hard...and if Argentina wins and eventually does to finals...chances are Brazil will be there too...and that is pretty scary too!!! Even thought they havent been playing all that good...

Too bad Czech Republic was sent back to home. However, Ukraine will win the cup, or I'm not called Arnold Reneezellweger.
Now, seriously, what the f**k is going on with Lampard? I've been
accompanying Chelsea since 2004, and, man, he's the best in the world
(maybe Gerrard is a bit better, but I would call it a draw), but he's
really bad in the cup. By the way, England is playing so bad that the
best of them is being Beckham.

^I think Lampard is going through a
crisis of confidence at the moment
Can
someone tell me why on earth the Germany v Argentina game kicks off
so early on Friday???? (5pm CET)... Which is 4pm BST in the
UK!!! What time do people normally finish work Fridays in
Germany???
Surely most of the population across Europe will still
be in work!! How annoying This
should be the late game and Italy v Ukraine should
be the early game.

Well I beg to differ. Beckham is one of the worst, despite getting in their only goal, he wasn't playing well at all. I question his fitness, his speed and everything. I think Joe Cole is by far the best of the English squad.
