Well then they're REALLY STUPID, or your RA isn't home, because partying right next to the RA's room is just asking for trouble.  Plus, why does weird=bad?

Weird is usually frowned upon when the goal is "fitting in".

I acknowledge that I'll never fit in, though.  For the most part I've pretty much been being myself here, but myself isn't very normal, so whatev.

The goal in college shouldn't be to fit in, it should be to forge your own identity.  This goes for social life AND for classes.

The education you get at college is good, but you're going away man...you have a great chance to really figure yourself out and grow.
Don't squander it by thinking you have to fit it. A lot of people go to Wisconsin...you'll find them. You won't be a social pariah.
Trust me.

Argh, I want to meet a girl who likes experimental metal like me.  We'd hit it off in nothing flat.

Don't get me wrong, that's all I've wanted to do my whole life, but not at the cost of becoming a social pariah.

And I don't do drugs either, James.

Well don't alienate yourself from society so much that no one ever wants to talk to you or hang out with you, but by all means don't conform just because you can.  When I first transferred to this campus (halfway through my sophomore year) I had some of the same worries you do now.  All of them, really, since I don't drink or do drugs either.  I figured I wouldn't fit in with anyone, so I was a bit of a hermit at first (OK, so I barely ever left my room).  Then two years ago as a junior, I finally did start to leave my room, and lo and behold, I found friends, and things to do other than partying.  I also found out that even the heaviest of drinkers can be friends with people like me (and you) who don't drink, and they really don't care if you don't drink!  More for them, I guess.

f**k it, I don't have the time for this.  I prefer brunettes, I've never seen a redhead that I found extremely attractive.

Damn it, I've just found out it was Cate Blanchett in that film.  She's not a natural redhead.  Damn.  She looked hot though.

That would be nice, except my taste in music instead of experimental metal.

I'd rather meet someone who didn't ever listen to my kind of music, but who did turn out to like some of it upon exposure and dislike some of it.  After all, if you like exactly the same stuff, that's no fun.

Well ya, that's what I'm trying to do.

But a lot of times I do just find myself in my room, especially at night, because I'm the only one who's not out partying or drinking.  Otherwise I try to get out as best as possible.

Maybe my luck'll improve when I start classes the day after tomorrow.

Plus, I'll start my gigs and such with student radio and with the airsoft team soon.  That'll give me something to do.

I want to meet a girl who can sing so I could turn my poems into lyrics.  Then we could be like a folk-duet or something.

You won't meet people with the exact same tastes. The fun part is learning about the other person's tastes. Just try to find someone who's tastes you can respect.

See? And all joking aside. I drink, I like it. I dont give a sh*t you do/dont. If you want to hang and not drink...awesome. Long as I like you. Jon somehow tolerated my presence after all LOL
Dude hate to sound like one of those welcome to college films...but we all go through it man.
Especially people like us who are not quite "normal" but even if it sucks for a bit (year and half for me) you will find your way man.

Shocked

And Jon, it's a lot less fun with a girl who listens to the complete opposite kind of music as you do, since then you have no common ground on one of the most important things in my life.

Wait, how many days have you been at college now, two or three and you're already thinking that you'll end up totally alienated from society?  You won't find your niche that fast. Tongue

Plus, yeah.  Having stuff to do is a big help.
