Speaks volumes to me.

By the way, you need some of that industrial grade pepper spray, that and a taser a taser. Headbanger

I'd be dangerous with a taser.  That old lady in the grocery store line in front of me, counting out pennies to pay a $50 grocery bill.  Or arguing over 15 cents.  ZAP! Tongue
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

If the owner told the people to get off of his lawn and they didn't go, then the police could do whatever they needed to get the people off of someone else's property. Even Paul Gilbert backs me up on this one:

I didn't follow the tea party BS, either. I pretty much don't follow any mass protests because in most cases the protests are fueled by political parties, corporations, or even other countries. If people want to make a difference, they ought to go out on their own and MAKE a difference and encourage others to do the same. Camping in the middle of a major city is not going to change the world like actually DOING something will.

Also, I actually wouldn't mind a taser, but I think I'd much rather prefer this:

Uhhh, doesn't look like it can actually burn holes in things, pass.

You know you'd think these cops would appreciate all the overtime they are getting just in time for the holiday season, ingrates!!!

It can, it just takes a second. I'm sure if we gave them to the police they'd find a productive way to use them on Occupy protestors!

Hey, if it's sunny outside they can just aim a big magnifying glass at them, perhaps from outer space.

How about sound cannons?  Take that you damned hippies and your drum circles. Angry

G20 PROTEST AND MARTIAL LAW, Police use sound CANNONS

Almost sounds like a prog weapon.  Curved Air did Vivaldi with cannons.

That actually looks pretty cool... The g20 protestors were DEFINITELY violent and brought it on themselves. To be fair, America was a lot better than Europe, where they were exercising complete anarchy in their protests.

Honestly if they wanted everyone to leave, they could invite Metallica and Lou Reed to perform LuLu in its entirety live. People would be apologizing to bankers and running home in no time!

It's disturbing that you're disturbed that someone would decide what to do with their own property. If he wants to kick people off of his lawn that he owns, that's his absolute right.

Because I do not believe in taking the law into your own hands.  And yes, I do realize that I'm talking to a bunch of libertarians who believe in exactly that.  Trespassers should be asked to leave (if they pose no threat of danger to the people on the property).  If the people refuse, the police should be called and handled by them (peacefully, of course).  This isn't the old freaking west.  At least not yet, and I don't want to live in the old west.  I like civilization.

Unfortunately, sometimes the law isn't always there for you, but that doesn't in anyway relieve you of the responsibility of not going overboard in your response.

Like in the case of the protesters, which is why I would have no problem with them taking the law into their own hands if that's what they wanted to do.  However, in Robert's case, a call for trespassers on his property (peaceful trespassers) would be responded to and dealt with by the police and should be left for them to deal with.

If someone starts to beat you up are you going to sit there and take it until the police get there?

Better yet, if you're married would you sit down and watch someone assault your wife and do nothing? If you're not married, substitute "wife" with "sister", "mother", "friend", etc.

There are times when you HAVE to take the law into your own hand.

Try doing some research on the old west beyond western movies...

Anyway, I believe an armed society can be a civilized. Just check Switzerland.

The question was about trespassers on Robert's lawn, not people assaulting his wife.  In such a case, when the cops will not arrive in time, you most certainly have a right to defend yourself and your loved ones.

Of course. But I guess some people really want omnipresent police. With all that it implies.

Once again it comes down to appropriate measured response.  What if the police had hosed down the protestors with super soakers?  Probably would have annoyed them away.  At least the police would have fun and no one would have been too hurt.  At least for the love of humanity hit them in the eyes with the super soakers after the pepper spray.
