It's not worse than all the metal bands that have death vocals. If you apply this rule today, the teacher would have to rule out a tons of bands...

^ I have 1 in HS and one in 7th grade.........2 have finished school, so I am on my last legs of school. I tell u I would HATE to be in school right now. With what I hear playing when I go to my kids school..OMG is simply krapp!

I remember playing Yes, Genesis, Rush, PF, Zepp, AC/DC, Boston.......in the cafeteria, and pretty much everyone was into it.

Now.......ughhh. My 7th grader wears his Dream Theater, Iron Maiden and Rush concert T's to school......I think maybe 20 kids he says even know they are bands. Although he says Rush is becoming more and more popular.

Some of his older teachers know. But only the hard core metal kids he says know who DT is.....

Hey have i told you guys about meeting Neil Peart's dad ?
A few years ago this older man comes in the store using a cane and asks if i fix central vacs.I said sure and he says it's in his van,so i go out and bring it in for him.Anyway i'm filling out the work order and i ask his name.He says "Glen Peart". I say "There's a famous Canadian drummer with the same last name as yours". He says "Yes,that's my son Neil".Well i'd loved to have seen my face at that moment.I think i had goosebumps and i'm not sure if my face went red or white. We talked for about 20 minutes.Well i should say he talked. He is obviously very proud. He told me a lot of things that i didn't know then but pretty much all of them were brought out on that RUSH DVD Beyond The Lighted Stage. He talked about buying Neil the drumset and how a neighbour complained so much that he rented a barn from someone he knew for Neil to practise in.He told me how smart Neil was in school.Man i wish i could remember how young he was when he finished High School but he was in a special class because of his intelligence. When Glen picked his central vac back up he brought me a Snakes & Arrows t-shirt which was very cool.He told me he has lots and lots of RUSH memorobilia at his house. It was funny when i carried it back out to his van his wife says "Is he boring you with all of those stories ?" I laughed and said "Are you kidding,i could listen to these for hours".Or something like that.

A question...

Has anyone heard the new Rush  Time Machine   Live DVD and CD - I have the Cd and noted Geddys voice is very pitchy becasue he had a cold.

That ruins the experience and yet they brought out a DVD too. Why would they do that - why not wait till he was at his best cos thats now going to be selling worldwide and its an inferiour Rush. Very sad and I am putting off getting it on DVD.

I read a scathing review today on the CD and it is sad that the thing was ever released. I love Rush but they have to reconsider some o the plethora of Compilations churning out recently and now Live Cds.

having said that the ABC Live CD was great focussing on a classic 70s concert.

The band sound fantastic and full of energy.

I thought Geddy's vocals were fine.  I mean, there were moments where you could tell he was sick, but overall he sounded good.  Geddy Lee with a cold is better than most singers when they're on the top of their game.  His vocal performance was striking to me, actually, because at the St. Louis show I remember him just murdering Time Stand Still, and I was pleased to hear him sing it quite well on the DVD (though I don't think he's ever matched his sublime studio performance of that song).

So ummm CA is wrapping up. They are mixing in Los Angelos right now. Rumours are they could start touring anywhere from May to September.
And I hope you all listened to Rush yesterday. 2/1/12

this is all so exciting.  looking forward to the new album and tour this summer.  hope we get a release date in the next few weeks.  i hope there is deluxe edition with a 'making of' DVD.  i love that stuff.

so, what's on everyone's wish list for the tour setlist....possible or outrageous picks.

personally, i'd love to hear a medley of tunes they they will probably never play again, similar to the 30th anniversary tour.  Fly by Night riff, Lakeside Park riff,  etc.  i'd love to hear anything off signals and/or some rarities from RtB, CParts, TfE...Driven, Bravado would be so great.

oh yeah!  jacob's latter is definitely overdue, especially since alex said they would play it on the time machine tour and then didn't.

When's the last time they played In The End live? One of my favourites from the early days. I'd love to hear them play that one live. I'd also love to hear Natural Science!
