If you have understood and of course enjoyed Prog Rock first, "post-rock" isn't the big deal really, it seems you're only listening to this "post-rock" stuff, I recommend you guys listen to some Prog Rock. Wink

EPIC FAIL.

...bah...just....don't even get me started....Angry

DO NOT FEED THE TROLL.

hahaha don't make me laugh, started about what??

see you guys...when an oppinion that differs from yours appears you are inmediately saying "omg don't feel the troll" and putting images of "you fail", and I really think your behaviour is childish which is worst than a troll...Tongue

it seems that Prog-heads are inmediately trolls for you, this is a PROG site for PROG-heads, what are you doing here? Wink

Actually, compared with classical music, a lot of jazz and various traditional musics, classic prog is an 'epic fail.'

So P.H.P., if you want to be smartass about something, make sure it's smart enough in the first place.

no, PHP.
see, you come into a thread where civilized people are discussing music that they enjoy, and that is widely regarded as modern progressive music.

Then you, with your out-dated notion of what constitutes progressive music, and the aid of your lack of self-control, decide to post saying that everything we've been discussing is irrelevant because it doesn't match what you think.

You are not contributing to conversation, apart from taking attention away from music and putting it on yourself.  You are a classic example of an internet troll.

Now can we please go back to recommending music to people who are actually interested in expanding their horizons, please?

No, post-rock doesn't suck (like I've mentioned it's just average, never the big deal) , what I say is that here there are bands that simply aren't Prog, and some young people believe they're only because PA lists them...Confused

Well, with the definition of prog being so vague, it's unavoidable.

that's wonderful for you.  I'm glad you like opeth, they're a great band.

However, just because YOU don't like the post-rock sound, doesn't make it an objective fact that post-rock is not progressive music.

It's your loss if you don't like it, I don't care about that.  What I do care about is you hijacking threads in which people are discussing music that they like.  I don't go into every thread about a neo-prog band ranting about how much I don't like neo-prog.  I just stay out.

Please endeavor in the future to recognize the difference between facts and opinion.

Good word, "vague" is the feeling I get when I listen to "post-rock"...LOL

anyways "post-rock" isn't the most innovative genre so to call listening to them "expanding horizons"...Tongue

Oh boy...

So what would you recommend instead for the "expanding of horizons"? Bands that people like Bela Bartok wouldn't have touched with a ten-foot stick (even though he inspired some of them) ?

I suggest you be a little more respectful of other people's opinions and likes and dislikes.

Your behavior and posts today in this thread and the PM split thread are almost trollish, all you seem to want to do is provoke people to ensure negative responses and arguments.

However "post-rock" is more related with alternative music than to Prog Rock...

Some guy (a Cult of Luna, post-rock fan) told me this:

"Not everything that is listed in PA is Prog, you must be aware of that...
Post-Rock isn't Prog; it could have lots of textures, long tracks, and not so simple structures...but in the end, and out of that it doesn't look like Prog at all"

What do you think about that?

So anyway,

I listened to The Pax Cecilia for the first time last night, and I was terribly impressed!  They are one of a few bands in the caliber of EitS when it comes to conjuring emotion out of thin air.  I only heard what was on their myspace page, and can't wait to hear the whole record! Big%20smile

Did you write to them to have it send it to you for free?If you didn't...you should.

It took 2 weeks for my copy to get to me here in Maryland.

OK fine, one last bite, but this is it, Mr. Troll.

Your friend is exactly right.  It doesn't "look like Prog" at all.  That's what's so progressive about it.
