I saw this propaganda this weekend. If you spin things the right way, I can see why one would be very afraid of voting for Democrats.

Yea, the wording can make all the difference. If you change " killing Babies" to a "Woman's Right to Chose" it changes the whole dynamic. You can do the same thing with each of these examples.

A simple rebuttal is, what was this country like before trump took office, and what is it like now after 4 years of inept leadership: crashed stock market, rampant disease, social unrest and military leadership that says trump should not be re-elected.

I thought it was hysterical during the democratic convention when Chris Christie digs into John Kasich. It's like that episode on star trek with the two guys both with black and white but on different sides. The funny thing is CHris CHristie can't talk.He is considered to be the worst governor in the history of Jersey. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Jeez. As for as I'm concerned Kasich eats Christie for breakfast. Actually it's probably the other way around but you get my point.
Anyway, Bernie and Michelle both did a great job. Of course at this point they are mostly just preaching to the choir.

This is laughable for many reasons, espeically given the current president and support he is getting from quote unquote mainstream republicans.
Of course, its sad that alot of people are too stupid or too uninformed to know any better.

Given Trump's track record for surviving even the biggest dirty deeds including the impeachment, I don't see how he could fail to win the election after all but disabling the postal service in blue states. Small potatoes.
The democrats are squawking and the republicans are smiling benevolently at them. So much ado about nothing.
I think Biden, the postal service, and the US in general are screwed. Even if the polls are correct (which again, I doubt), what's the point if the voters questioned won't be able to get their votes in?

Personally, I am still in the crowd that can't believe that in a population of 328 million people, Trump and Biden are really the best that we can come up with. |
I would explain it this way (and I may have before) the American population (writ large) is never looking for the best. They want what's within their grasp, is comfortable and is just enough to satisfy them. That's why McDonalds is as popular as it is and healthy chains aren't. It's why radio plays most of the crap they do and not our beloved Progressive rock (clearly the better choice) or why Real Housewives probably does better than news offerings. There were, to my recollection, several individuals that would have been more than acceptable as candidate for the Dems.
Mass appeal ≠ Best Choice...EVER !

Fair enough, let me try that differently then:
While the democrats are deploring the declining functionality of the US postal service, the republicans seem either not to be reacting to the issue or accusing the democrats of overreacting.
This could possibly result in the presidential elections being subject to a large number of votes from especially blue and underprivileged areas not being counted.
What is your opinion?

My opinion is that what you're stating is a fact. And we shall see if there is the will to support the Post Office or not. A lot of older citizens, conservative and progressive, not only rely on the USPS for crucial materials and finances, but also want to be able to vote by mail if they choose, and maybe send an occasional greeting card.
One must contribute to shaping a democracy as it is unfolding, not sit back, hope for the best, and then hurl poop at things one doesn't like.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean there.
Are you referring to the democracy in the USA? Surely not. I mean the USA is/was the democracy flagship and it is certainly not unfolding at the moment. Just the opposite.

By "unfolding" I mean the events & history that occur during the times in which we live. Once a democracy is established it has to be continually maintained, refreshed, rebooted, and revolutionized.

I haven't heard anything about putting back or replacing the hundreds of sorting machines already removed either. I don't have any trust in these promises. Just as one example: family separation at the border is still going on, I've been informed a few days ago. It's just not as blatant as it was.

Bad day for the Trump Crime Syndicate. First a judge throws out his effort to keep his taxes hidden...
...And then Trump's favorite drunk Steve Bannon gets hauled away in handcuffs for -- are you ready for this? Fraud! What a surprise!
So, let's see, how many Trump criminal accomplices is that now? Trump's campaign chairman (Manafort), Manafort associate (van der Zwaan), vice campaign chairman (Gates), campaign adviser (Papadopolous), adviser (Stone), chief strategist (Bannon), personal lawyer (Cohen), and National Security Adviser (Flynn). How long are dolts going to keep defending this fraudulent charlatan?

This statement explains the entire reason why Trump got into office in the first place, and also explains why his base will never change, but I would also add the word "mis-informed" just for clarity purposes. Yes uninformed would include those that are mis-informed. When did all this mis-information start? The same day that the first right-wing, blow-hard Lim-blaugh started broadcasting his stupid opinions on the air waves and making money off of them.

You make a excellent point here. I can remember talk shows that presented balanced views intelligent discussions about issues. That all seems to be out the window now. Outlets like Fox news and most talk radio shows are not interested in thoughtful discussion. All they want to do us throw gas on the fire.

From this side of the Atlantic, it isn’t, I am afraid.
Politics has shifted, irrevocably, from left/centre & right/centre to identities. Liberal v traditional identities (For want of a better word or phrase). There are many people who would not vote for a politician such as Biden, Saunders, Obama, and etc. no matter who was up against them, or no matter how incompetent. They do not buy into this type of politics. They never will. That is why they are sticking with Trumpalot, and will continue to do so.
Whether their numbers are enough to get him back in is another matter altogether.
We have had a very similar argument here over Brexit. The people who were diehard Remainers and EU supporters simply could not understand why the majority who voted to leave did so. They still don’t. As long as they continue in this blind manner, they will continue to lose. That is the danger with liberals in your country.
Never forget what motivates ordinary citizens. The only constant motto in politics that ever matters.
