yeah, they're real new, but they have some great ideas. No official recordings, but I've seen the guys live, and its pretty sick. I think they're coming out with an EP soon.

Well, it's super nice to see the GY!BE news. I know they've forged some beautiful stuff that they've never even put on an album, so hopefully they'll get inspired enough to compose an entire new album. Hopefully one of the "9 towns" they plan on visiting in America is somewhere near me.

About Cecilia Eye's, i hadn't heard them before, but they sound pretty nice. I really dig their taste in textures, but i'm not sure how i feel about them yet; "

Wow, i think i like "Mountain Tops Are Sometimes Closer to the Moon" alot better than the samples from their latest album.
Btw, i noticed that Negura Bunget (they might be listed under "Extreme/Tech Metal" but it seems like "Black Metal" style bands get appreciation in this thread most of all) is releasing a new album and going on tour; yet, at the same time i read that the only remaining member since "Om" is the percussionist. Basically, they're an entirely new band now ![]() Speaking of the Negura Bunget, i almost feel that they should be delivered from the clutches of the "Tech Metal" sub-genre. I don't think anyone would disagree that they sound just as much "Post Metal" as Wolves in the Throne Room. NB just seems so out of place besides band like Cynic, and people that are searching through the archives under "Post Metal" are missing out on a band that's likely very close to their taste range. (mmm.... feels good to sport the "Post Rock Team" label

I like quite a few post-rock bands, my favourite being Sigur Rós. I also really enjoy Russian Circles.

You are in the right place dude, just stick to this thread and you will find loads of great bands. For a start try this ones: Godspeed You! Black Emperor, God Is An Astronaut, Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, Mono.

Thanks! I've heard Mogwai's Young Team and EITS's All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone and they were both brilliant so I'll check them out more as well as the other recommendations.

i heard NB's new album, but it is not as nearly great as OM, in fact,i was dissapoineted a lot . and yeah, it's completely new line up now except for the drummer. and yeah OM sounds much like WITTR, but NB first albums has a bit different sound, more progressive black then post metal, so i guess that is the reason why they are in tech/extreme and not in post metal. and welcome to the team

I'm afraid to checou out the new NB album simply cause the only original member is the drummer. It's dumb thet he'd survive when he wasnt a guitar player singer or at least a keyboard player. I think it's bad taste.
Congrats dude!

You guys will like, then, the Dordeduh album when it gets released. This is the band formed by the ex-NB guitarist and bassist. I posted 40 minutes worth of good quality YouTube videos from their debut concert, in the Tech/Extreme Appreciation Thread ![]() |

Wow.... thanks Alex, they sound amazing. Super nice find ![]() EDIT: Damn, seems like "Dordeduh" would fit in the Post Metal section quite nicely. One of those vids from their live show even gave me a wonderful "Shora" feel.

I've just started getting into post rock, have all the GY!BE albums and they're amazing, just today picked up:
Millions now living will never die (tortoise) All is Violent, All is Bright (God is an Astronaut) All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone (Explosions in the Sky) Agaetis Byrjun (sigur Ros) Takk (Sigur Ros) Goodbye Enemy Airship the Landlord is dead (Do Make Say Think) Only started listening to the Tortoise album but it's fantastic. Hooray for post-rock |

I've been into Post-Rock for around 2 years. And lately, I've got some of cool Asian stuffs like Sugar Plum Ferry, Mudy on the Sakuban and the local (=Thai) band, Forgot Your Case (their debut album is really awesome). And I think this year there will be more on Post-Rock to hear.
Anyone interested in Asian Post-Rock scene? |
