I put Angherr Shisspa on in the car and that seems to have a similar affect.
Except my CD player isn't working right now. |

Sound advice there. What you should do is get some , and . First you the mixture with a and then it with a . When it's nice and , smear some on your and take the rest up your and wait for the to start. Admittedly there's a good chance you'll wake up on a drip feed somewhere in central Europe with no idea of how you got there, but it made Ozzy Osbourne the man he is today!

Aethenor is well worth giving a try, and emusic is a cheap way to dip your toe into the water.

You may want to consider Crimetime Orchestra if you're an avant jazz/fusion fan. I haven't had time to listen to the whole thing yet (it's over an hour and is eight tracks, one of which is 22 minutes) but what I did hear was amazing. I'll try to get back to you when my opinion is less lame. ;-) I don't get This Heat. It seems like I should like them, but they aren't doing it for me.Oh, Mindawn is nice. I don't really care about FLAC, though--lossless is extremely overrated. But maybe I just don't have good enough ears. ;-) Edited by Henry Plainview - September 18 2008 at 18:22 |

Angherr Shisspa would be good in the car though! Yoshida's drumming would be EPIC. |

I've got all their albums and I'm not too hot on them either. They've got a few tracks I like, but most of it leaves me cold. |

I want that This Heat boxset. I've heard some of their tracks and some are very good. I do like Charles Hayward a lot though.
I also have a Camberwell Now album somewhere which I've yet to listen to. Ah, thanks Blowie! I'm sure I've seen other photos of Segers not in a wheelchair though. Any ideas? Actually, I'm a friend on Guy Segers' MySpace page, so maybe I could ask him? Guy Segers is always on the right in the following photos: I think it may have just been a reason to make a weird photo for Heresie. Edited by James - September 18 2008 at 21:10 |

I've got some This Heat, but I haven't listened to it too closely yet. I think there are two issues with it for me. 1. Timbre. (Sorry... I may be about to be pretentious! ) I'm so immured in that richly-textured feel of 70s music, that the (how to describe it??) flatter, more matte (?? I did warn you! ) feel of 80s music kinda feels weird. I need to push through that barrier somehow. (The Residents may help with this - like a bridge from one to the other...) 2. Hipness. Let's face it - This Heat is a hipster totem. And I'm rather allergic to that. "Oh, you listen to This Heat? That makes you COOL." Does it...? Really...? Hmmm. (I'd rather be weird than cool. ) And that's all. |

I know I'll succumb to this eventually, but I'm fighting it. I'll probably get me some of that Miasma next, on the DOS front. |

This is one occasion when censorship is probably a good thing! Anyway... Mothlite should be in the Archives. I'm going to suggest them. |

I have Magma's MDK for my ride to school this morning and Beefy's Trout Mask Replica for the way home.
What a way to start and end my day at school on Friday. Now the hardest part will be not to start singing and/or air drumming. |

I actually find the remastered versions of the first album and Deceit to be as richly textured as anything currently available, and the remainder of the box set (the live set aside) isn't far behind.
I find the hipster status of This Heat slightly laughable myself. Play any of This Heat's RIO contemporaries to most of the hipster contingent and they'll react as though you've just force fed them radioactive dogsh*t. The poor things just don't get it .

I think it's just a personal prejudice of mine. I always (well, usually) find 80s stuff harder to get into. I don't think my description was very helpful, either - 'richly textured' (or otherwise) is somewhat open to interpretation! If I can get over my hipness aversion, I'll give it a proper go! As for that 'radioactive canine excrement' reaction - dear oh dear. All it needs, though, is someone achingly 'now' to cite UZ as an influence, or something... actually, no, I hope that doesn't happen. |

Well I can do worse than that. Those rather lacklustre guys of The Libertines (I believe it was them, it may have been Babyshambles ) apparently have recorded a version of The Graham Collier Sextet track Lullabye for a Lonely Child. Which is a beautiful piece that was also performed by Nucleus (which actually included former members of The Graham Collier Sextet). Luckily for me, I have not heard this cover version and I don't know if I want to either. |

I'm not even sure what 'pitchfork' is, other than being an implement favoured by angry peasants who wish to disrupt the machinations of misguided aristocrats. |
