That was brutal.  A major buzzkill.  It was 2006 all over again.  And also, really not surprising.  Everything really kind of pointed to the this.  All the talk about it being a slam dunk with Verlander pitching for the Tigers and Zito making his 1st ever World Series appearance, you just kind of knew that Zito would end up being the better pitcher yesterday.

It's easy to say after the fact... That's the magic of reality sports, no one can predict the outcome because everything is progressing spontaneously without any cause.

This is true.  However, after watching the pre-game show where all 3 "experts" predicted that the Tigers would win because Verlander was "unhittable" and the "best pitcher in baseball" and how Zito used to be but was not any more, I turned to my friend and said exactly that.  Just watch Verlander blow up like in 2006 and Zito shut down the Tigers.  This is mostly a superstition thing with me, but those kind of predictions tend to have the same reaction with me as the announcers should not mention that a pitcher is throwing a no-hitter superstition.  The rational brain knows that it has no actual effect on the game but superstition is a crazy bitch.

GO GIANTS!!
Sure. I am game for a friendly bet on the series.  Rather than a photo, maybe we should go with the loser having to change their avatar to one glorifying the winning team.

That's cool

Although my cousin plays for the Indians, I am a HUGE Giants fan- only pro team I have ever had any love for.

LOL They did not taste good. Well i predicted the Giants would win this series based on pitching and experience. It just blows me away that a layoff can have such a negative affect. Verlander has been lights out and Zito is...well pretty inconsistant right ? If the Tigers lose tonight with the Giants best pitchers still yet to pitch i'm afraid it might be over. No score after 6 innings which is pretty scary if your a Tigers fan.

Just a side note...Valverde said he had his pitching problem fixed and well obviously that wasn't the case after his performance in game one. Bumgarner says the same thing after being terrible and shazam ! He's been incredible in game two so far. I just don't like the way this is going but hey it's early yet.

YES

Not over though. I'd be happy to get 1 of 3 in Motown.

I think it will all come down to the Scherzer/Cain matchup in game 4...provided the Tigers win game 3, of course.

Shame on baseball for letting this happen.  Giants, Cardinals, Giants = puke.

It was sooooooo cold last night.  I was dressed like Randy from The Christmas Story and I was still chilled to the bone.  All that I can do is tip my hat to the Giants.  They were definitely the better team in this series.  The Tigers' bats just never got going the entire series, and the Giants' pitchers just shut them down.
