I'd love a Kimi win, but I feel like something would have to happen to Vettel for that to happen.

Good win by Vettel but a dull race. Both McLaren's DNFed as well as Hamilton, which was a surprise. I think Lewis is still ahead by 40+ points on Rosberg, but I'm not sure exactly. Does anyone know?

^Thanks V. Still a pretty substantial lead.

Yeah, one good thing about Sunday morning work....made it easier to get up a little earlier for the race, and while the results were fun, the race was a bit of a snoozer.

Typical Sungapore.
Maldonado got re signed for next year, yesterday. It's a shame that the Lotus/Renault team need his money so much as he's a complete moron in wheel to wheel racing, ruined Jenson's race yesterday (not that it mattered, overheating gearbox would have put him out anyway).
If Hamilotn wins in Japan this weekend I think he can afford to come second in each of the 5 races afterwards with Nico winning them all and still be champion.

I was so mad about that yesterday, although it was nice to see Jenson being aggressive and fighting for points, whether he would've finished or not.

^Yes, this type of rich 'amateur' keeps coming around until they get bored of racing or run out of money and have to go back and work on the pig farm or whatever. A shame, really.

And it sounds like Jenson will be announcing his retirement from F1 during or before the Suzuka weekend, so now I'll have to deal with both Jeff Gordon and Jenson Button retiring in November. Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm treating it the same as the VW to buy Red Bull rumours, I'll only believe it when they announce it. Since the story seemed to first turn up in the Daily Mail it certainly needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, though I do like the idea of him racing with/against Webber in the WEC (who won the race at Austin over the weekend, and the Nurburgring two weeks earlier) instead of a McLaren stuck in no mans land.

That's a likely scenario, although I wouldn't mind him in Indycar (I know it won't happen) so I could go see him race. That would be awesome.

Does anyone know if David Brabham has officially retired? He was always one of my favorites and is a true technician as well as a awesome tactician.

No, not officially. He's currently working on getting his team up and running in LMP2 for next year and will likely be the lead driver. I believe his most recent race was for ESM earlier in the year as a stand in for an injured van Overbeeke at Silverstone.

Ugh...Pastor, must be nice to be a pay driver. I mean...I'd want actual results and respect but still I may be wrong, but wasn't he also sponsored (maybe officially?) by the government? If so, that's even worse! Literal do nothing and gets a free ride in F1.

Yeah, PDVSA is the state owned oil company of Venezuela. Given that US shale oil has flooded the market and is really hurting everybody other oil company out there, I'm surprised they've got any money to throw Pastors way.

^Might as well just put Noriega in the car. He would probably do a better job. And thanks for the update on Brabs.

I am against fracking, BUT if one of the (very unexpected) side effects will be no longer having the $ to give Pastor to keep him in F1, it aint totally bad And tough to deny how beautifully low oil prices have fallen, but this isnt the politics/econ thread so I'll end that there.
Given how volatile the swings can be now, the last race keeps Nico alive. Clearly he doesn't have "it" needed to beat Lewis, but like last year...he's managing to stay just enough afloat to leave shreds of hope (to be dashed later )

Yeah, talent wise Lewis is without a doubt better, and really I was being wishful last year, it was a combo of Nico doing just enough and Lewis slipping every so often that kept him alive, but this year Hami has just put the pedal to the metal and owned it.

Yeah, reliability has been much better this year and Lewis has sorted out his biggest weakness from last year as well, qualifying. I don't think Rosberg's doing any worse than last year, he's just that little bit short of Hamilton everywhere. News today, Grosjean has signed for the new Haas team for next year, as mentioned before his team mate is most likely going to be either Gutierrez or Vergne, my vote's for Vergne but I suspect Gutierrez might get it, despite the fact he hasn't done anything of note since his GP3 title 5 years ago. Some good news from Indycar as well, Hinchcliff has been cleared fit to drive again and will join the privat test at Road America (!) next Monday. There are some awesome onboards from Josef Newgarden at the test earlie in the week, it's so good to see this amazing track back on the calander.
