Okay. Might read it one day if I get the opportunity and time.

Great movie, one of Herzog's best. Klaus Kinski's performance is stunning as always. Clap

certainly was a stunner, gritty and epic tale of thugdom in a 3rd world country, probably the best gangster type movie since Goodfellas,

good one, Herzog sure knows how to maximize the surrounding natural environment to his benefit, and I guess you couldn't have anyone more appropriate to play Aquirre than nutty ol' Klaus

Funny Games (US version - 2007) - basically a quick grab at the next door video store since we didn't have any of our netflix movies at the moment - so this is basically a complete replica of the first, except in English and with big name Hollywood actors, okay whatever....I liked the original, this one didn't seem to have the same impact (partially cause I've already seen the original and I know what happens) but also also seemed to lack some of the grit and realism of the German version (not to mention the inclusion Tim Roth and Naomi Watts, just can't get past the 'known' faces in order to suspend my disbelief) anyhoo, I think I gave the original 8/10, this one I'll give 6/10, at least they still used the Naked City track "Bonehead" an extra point for that Wink

Strait Jacket(2008) - random Anime movie, okay plot, excellent Anime, nothing to write home about - 4/10

Medea (1988) - wow, another bravo for Lars, finally saw this masterpiece, based off the Greek myth of Medea and Jason of and the Argonauts, simple and timeless tale of husband leaving wife and kids for a younger woman and/or selfish desires, wife is left to bear the burden and hurt and hell hath no fury...
I absolutely adore the way this was filmed...such a hazy and raw film quality, if you can imagine Mutiilation production aesthetics put to film thats the look of Medea (why wasn't LOTRs Trilogy filmed like this?), and beyond that there's so much other flavoring and detail and clever camera technique that's so satisfying for my hungry eyes, sparse dialog and hypnotic pacing yet no fat what so ever in this movie which clocks in at about 76 minutes, powerful ending just puts this one over the edge for me...mr Von Trier I believe is the first director to earn a trifecta with me, this will be the third of his movies I will give a 10/10

Actually, Michael Haneke originally wanted to make it in English because he intended for Funny Games to be his breakthrough movie (in the sense of being the first that reached a wide audience) but couldn't find financing for it at the time until Hidden made him a sorta-big name.

I, however, think Haneke should just finally get around to remaking Videodrome like he obviously always wanted to.

Flight of the Navigator- was on TV and I remember liking it in my youth......nowadays it is complete cheese with nice eighties angle... maybe good for some kids someday.... neat for its time but does not hold up well.....3/10

Hellboy II- a masterpiece of epic proportions with some exceptional social commentary thrown in for good measure.....excellent special effects and characters, decent dialogue.....but really the story is quite well done methinks.  worth owning.  Guillermo Del Torro can do no wrong!   10/10

Really? I thought that looked like crap personally. The commercials made me want to throw up. They made it look so 'dark and gothy' for number 1 and then in number 2 it's suddenly this family action comedy thing. At least they know their audience I guess.

Mr. Brooks

An average thriller about a famous & successful business owner who also happens to be a serial killer. The plot is alright - some unnecessary developments (the whole daughter thing) imo, possibly tries too hard to be clever etc. Demi Moore still can't act, but apart from that, it was enjoyable. 6/10

Time (Shi Gan)

Kim Ki-Duk fascinates me to no end - Time is no exception. It starts off slow, as a romantic drama, but ends up as a completely over-the-top and surreal take on plastic surgery and its effects on people. 8/10

I think Hellboy 2 was made of pure awesomeness and one of the most entertaining movies I've seen in the cinema EVER even though it probably doesn't make that much sense.

This night I watched Quantum of Solace. Boy, was I disappointed. Both the plot and several of the action scenes are way too confusing (the rooftop foot chase in Italy felt like a weaker, more hyperactively edited version of the construction yard fight in Casino Royale) and the movie seems to be over way too soon. It was like the script skimmed over a lot of important stuff, and Gemma Atherton's character (that redhead MI6 girl) barely made an impression. I've read this is the shortest James Bond movie yet and lord does it feel like it. However, there were some things I really liked in it: The boat chase in Haīti, the airplane action and the character of Camille who's the best attempt at a female counterpart of Bond in the series yet (much more so than Anya Amasova) but even her didn't get enough chemistry with Bond. The movie as a whole, though... the best thing I can really say about Quantum of Solace is that it could have been a lot worse. But if you judge it against what the trailer promised I'm afraid to say it could have been a goddamn lot better.

Iron Man  --    Fun, good script, well-made, great cast, pretty much what I wanted in a superhero movie..  not as good as Batman Begins but kicks Spiderman's ass.

I disagree. Batman Begins might thematically have been more ambitious than Iron Man but in execution it wasn't as well-made.

I agree.  Iron Man ruled...but did not have the dark, haunting story of Batman Begins, where ambiguous morality ran amuck throughout all of the characters.  Iron Man was your typical "rich playboy finds a conscience"...movie.  but still excellent.  I just prefer the story of Batman Begins overall.  Way more intense and gripping and really a class could be taught about its philosophical bend....Spiderman does not even come into the competition imo....

edit:  oh wait.  I was thinking of Dark Knight when I typed that.  scratch it.  Batman Begins was great, maybe equal to Iron Man....Dark Knight however beats them both!

That we can agree on. Hellboy 2 might have been the most entertaining of the many superhero movies to come out this year, but The Dark Knight is the bestCool
