Well, for $5 a month I can understand not giving lossless.  But for more than that, I'd want better than 320, that's for sure.

I hate paying for lossy audio. That's why I love bandcamp.

Not only am I becoming more crusty in my old age, I am becoming less liberal too. There was once a time when I would have been furious about that Troy Davis execution.  Not so much anymore, and I have absolutely no sympathy for the white supremacist who was executed in Texas.

Executing an innocent man doesn't bother you because you're more conservative?? And yeah, I don't like the death penalty in any case, but I don't really care about Lawrence Brewer...

Alan!  I figured I'd see you here at some point...have you listened to anything by Robert Henke?  I listened to Layering Buddha last night, it was pretty cool, if not totally stunning.  Seems up your alley, since you also seem to be into electronic.

Jon! I've not listened to any of his solo stuff, but I've always kind of enjoyed Monolake. I'll definitely give that album a listen though. I didn't even know he had solo music available.

Yeah, I found him while browsing the Prog Electronic artists last night...one artist at a time.  I've not listened to any Monolake yet, what's their stuff like?

Also, there are two live versions of Layering Buddha available as free downloads on his website.  The first is from 2007, and according to him it's got some breaks and errors in the recording, and the second is from 2008, and doesn't have any.  If you can't find his stuff to listen to anywhere else (I listened on Spotify), you have those if nothing else. Wink

I was recently told I am both very much alike Sam the Eagle and, at the same time, worse than him.. Shocked

I'm listening to the retail version of Layering Buddha right now and I like it a lot more than Monolake. Monolake is minimal techno, basically as minimal as techno can get before it becomes ambient but still uses a steady percussive beat throughout the tracks. I'm not really a minimal techno fan, but I can sometimes be in the mood for it.

But I'm really liking Henke's solo work, thanks for the recommendation. Big smile

To be honest, everything that I read, I don't think that he was "innocent".  He may not have pulled the trigger, but his unknown and alleged accomplice did (nothing that I read actually showed that there was an accomplice).  If he is too stupid to turn in the actual killer because of some criminal code about being a stool pigeon then apparently he has chosen this path.  (Everything that I have read has eluded to some anonymous other shooter.  If this other person does exist and is known and the news is keeping the name anonymous because of libel worries because this other person has never been charged or convicted of the crime then my opinion might be different).

No problem, glad you enjoy it.  I've been in a bizarro Krautrock/prog electronic (mostly Berlin school style) mood lately, so I've been trying to find more from each of those styles.
