I saw the "Lamb" show in Chicago, it was quite remarkable!  I play much of the Genesis catalog on bass, and believe me, they were spot on.

The fact that they used the light-show slides from the original "Lamb" tour by Genesis enhanced the experience greatly.  I'd see them again in a minute, hopefully a "Selling England" show.

^ Thanks, cstack! One more day...

I'm curious to see how the show went for those who have already gone. Did they play any encores after playing The Lamb?

I saw them playing The Lamb in Brussels in 2005 (30th aniversary tour) but I have to admit that I do not fully remember if they played encores, I'd say they played The Musical Box but I'm getting senile Unhappy

The set is exactly the same as the Genesis Lamb tour.  The Lamb in it's entirety then the Musical Box and encore is Watcher of the Skies.

Edit: Now that I think of it I think The Musical Box and Watcher are both encores played after the main set of the Lamb.

Lucky you! How did you manage to get front row AND center? Do you work for CalProg or something? LOL

My girlfriend and I will be 3 rows behind you. We're slightly right of center, 4th row. Big smile

Maybe I'll see you there...Cool

Not work for them just spent a lot of money on Calprog.  Wink
I have been a patron of the  festival since 2005 and have only missed 3 of Jim's one offs.  When they played last time in 2005 we sat right about where you are sitting although a different theater.  This one is a bigger venue than any Jim has used in the past.

They are touring right now, see http://themusicalbox.net/ for their list of cities.  They are playing LA ....TODAY!!   Get your tickets!!

Saw the Musical Box last night in LA, it was awesome! They played Lamb Lies Down flawlessly, and I forgot they were a cover band and listened to their music. It was really good, and a nice treat for Genesis fans that hasn't seen them in the 70's. Afterwards they played Musical Box and Watcher of the Skies. That was awesome.

I thought they were amazing! Even with drunken and obnoxious fans (seriously, who says to themselves "I'm going to see a Genesis cover band, let's get sh*t faced!" ???) and sh*tty sound quality. My dad didn't dig them, but he's not a Genesis fan so whatever... Tongue

By the way, their whole DVD is up on YouTube!

What sized crowd did they draw?

Was it sold out?

^^ OMG, their effort to replicate everything about Genesis is a bit disturbing. Shocked The "Hackett" has that moustache, the "Gabriel" shaved his head in that way and the "Collins" is baldy and actually looking like the real one! LOL Only the "Banks" sticks to his own looks...

The pieces are awesome, though, I'd like to see them.

Yea but for those of us that have not seen them live in the 70's, it's nice to know that they are trying to replicate their performance as much as possible. To some, it was like a time capsule. I don't know the players name, but they look different from those videos you have posted. But yea, they pretty much dress like how they would. Gabriel's theatric costumes, and his Rael costume. Rutherfords white jumpsuit, and Hackett's sitting down play style.

When I saw them, they performed The Lamb perfectly! I over heard one guy in the crowd telling his friends that you won't understand the Lamb until you see it. By the time they got to In the Cage, everyone was tapping, and banging to the beat. The solo was everything I expected to hear from Genesis to the Musical Box. The Waiting Room was absolutely MIND-BLOWING. You started to smell reefer before the song starts, lucky.. This is a Genesis Psychadelic tune!. The room was all dark, and it became a light show in there.

The crowd was cool. I don't think the show was sold out, but there was a decent audience. Just a bunch of dudes in their 30's-late 40's with Rush, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, and Genesis shirts sipping their cocktails. They were all easy going, and you could easily talk to your neighbors.

Highly Recommended if you like Genesis.

I saw them about 4 years ago in Bristol, UK - they were touring the SEBTP album/set & they were stunningly good; this band really is like seeing Genesis in the early 1970s.

Let's face it, people, Genesis will never tour again & even if they did, it would probably be just a little sad... if you ever get chance to see The Musical Box, do it

@Wrinkler: I didn't say it's not nice that they do what they do, on the contrary. And the videos were posted by Jake ;)
