Plus, she has a smokin' hot wife.

In my opinion.

Lisa Fitz:

You may not understand it all because it is in German, but it is all about "lifting".
Monika Gruber:

Again in German; the issue is modern technology.
Maren Kroymann:

German again, in Saxonian dialect even. The issue is marriage and life in the German Democratic Republic..

I do miss her.  I have so many memories of watching her with my Mom on Maude, All in family, and Golden Girls.  She gaves us so many laughs with that straight-faced, sarcastic, dead-pan wrath of whoever she was nailing.

What I've found is that women comedians tend to do comedy about being women, about their periods, pregnancy, the things they talk about with other women, etc. As a man, I find it hard to relate to these jokes. The most successful female comedians pick topics that everyone can relate to.

My favorite is Paula Poundstone.

Ellen is not funny.

My English teacher made us watch her DVD in grade 11 and she's not even close to perhaps stimulating a giggle from a drunk person

The former, unfortunately. Embarrassed

But hey, just my opinion. I might even come 'round to 'getting' her brand of humor at some point. I never rule anything out.

i dunno I like comedians that dont go for the usual high energy "how are you doing tonight!" "any _____s out there!" "how many of you like _____?!" type of thing

My double-act partner is female, and we've had some very detailed discussions about the lack of decent female comedians in the UK. The main problem seems to be that a lot of female comedians are overly concerned with being female - most of their materials seems to hang on the fact that they are women. Now, the material we write together is utterly gender-neutral. Our comedy is generally surreal, metatextual and often quite profane - we'd sooner quit than write a sketch in which we explored the supposed differing attitudes of men and women.
