Now that the "old" guys are posting in this thread, it is only right that another "young" guy posts in here. Heck, I'm not even 40 yet.

I started to listen to top-40 music at the age of 11 and about the age of 13 or 14, I completely turned to prog and I have always been since, though I became a less active listener in the 90's. Since I discovered PA, I try to update my knowledge of prog. I'm in my final forties now.

I was around 14 when I first found Pink Floyd, but now I am about to turn 19, pretty much like a lot of people, except I never liked Dream Theater. Metal isn't my thing, but I have always been drawn to experimental/psychedelic/space rock type stuff, and a little jazz influence never hurts. The best advice I would be able to give to someone who is "just starting out" in prog is to go full steam ahead, and Rush usually wins every poll.

Nice to see so many young people here! I started in prog when i was 15, now I'm 41 years. All my prog friends are around my age and some have already reached their 50's, but i do not know any young people who like prog.
