Oh thats awfully sad newsCry like Wilco Johnson, his cancer was expected to take him much sooner but his sheer spirit and love of music and life kept him with us for longer and how lucky we were. A real genius and lovely human being. Thank you Damo and RIP.

He was 74 and had been diagnosed with cancer and little hope of recovery in 2014!
A truly special singer, always up for spontaneously joining pretty much every musician who wanted to play with him (and making all their music his). I have seen him live at least 5 times in various combinations (once in the 1990s singing Mother Sky with Michael Karoli's band); there are not many musicians I've seen more often than him.
Another giant of Kraut rock has left us. Cry
