'''Due to "technical problems at the pressing plant," the release date of "Fire Was Born" has been pushed back to April 27 (via Earache Records) from the previously announced March 23. Along with an epic live show recorded on July 1, 2008 at Scala in London, England, the disc — which was mixed, edited and designed by the band — will feature footage of Johannes Persson (guitar) and Anders Teglund (keyboards) answering questions from fans all around the world and the videos for "The Watchtower","Leave Me Here" and "Back To Chapel Town". two videos from fire was born: Edited by angelmk - March 10 2009 at 10:05 |

I'm listening to Bursts Lazarus Bird right now, and this is really exciting me! It's been awhile since I've listened to music this unpredictable! I cant wait to get through the whole album.

^Burst is frickin' great. One of my current favorites. Lazarus Bird and Origo rule extremely hard. I just ordered a copy of Prey on Life too. From what I heard that one is pretty darn good, if a bit unrefined, too.

Hell yeah, Assaf recommended the band to me a little over a few months ago; i've been enjoying them frequently ever since. Oh, btw; i know i'm very late on this, but i recently found the band "People for Audio". Any fans here? They remind me alot of Do Make Say Think. |

This whole listening to Burst and the Ocean thing has rekindled my faith in hardcore. I've always felt that the core genre's are too stale, and seem to be too devoid of emotion, but these two groups have really turned me on to the genre (granted, Lazarus Bird has very few elements that I could recognize). Still I'm gonna go check out Mastadon and Buried inside and see how I like them. Any other sludgy "core" groups I should know about?

Been meaning to post for a little bit, but anyway I saw Maserati on Sunday at a small bar, maybe 60 people at the show. The show was simply amazing.
I'd always considered Maserati a good post-rock band, but nothing that is required listening. Seeing them has completely changed this opinion. Something about the trance-like, rhythmic driven quality of the music must be lost during recording, because it was like a totally different band. Anyway I recommend heavily anyone who has done so to check out Inventions for the New Season by them. |

I've tried out all of those groups (except Amen Ra) already, and the only one I really got into was A storm of light.
None of those groups have very big "core" influences, and the one's that do dont have very big Sludge influences...

I've never seen Mastodon as being a core band, maybe I'm just missing something?

Mastodon has the screamed style vocals and they are clearly influenced by hardcore punk, so there is the connection.
Not that I would call them a core band as such, but the core edge to their sound is there. |
