IQ Appreciation Thread

why oh why do the same old questions keep rearing its state of affairs. mind you it as had an affected us all about the question within the prog world. this question is that the bands albums all sound the same as the writing like GENESIS, neo-prog and IQ maybe its me but yes there are similar sounding music but that's so so easy to state. music press talking. just ask Marillion and the tag of GENESIS... I think IQ`s albums possible do sound the same but there a great prog band...

yeah I now wrong thread I was just pointing out a personnel point of view about this amazing band of neo-progressive rock IQ. there is a much funniest question which is should I get a tattoo of some of the prog bands I`m into done...

I prefer the studio version. Slap on the headphones etc. Its worth watching the live DVD though. I was lucky enough to see IQ play the whole thing at the now defunct Astoria followed by an encore of The Last Human Gateway. Easily in my top 3 favourite gigs by any band.

I bought Frequency the other day, and I have fallen in love with the title track. It's stunning! I also love One Fatal Mistake and Ryker Skies. It's my 2nd IQ album after The Road of Bones, and Peter Nicholls is fast becoming one of my favourite vocalists.

I saw IQ at Bury t'other day and a great gig it was.  Excellent sound, a sell out crowd and some nice beer too .  The band were in great form, as you would expect.

The stuff from the new album came across well and I enjoyed the epic much more than I do on the album.  They played all of disc one but nothing from the "bonus" disc.  I didn't expect to hear anything off that so was not disappointed.  It really was a killer setlist.  They also played The Darkest Hour, Frequency, The Wake, Leap of Faith, Subterranea, The Seventh House and Widow's Peak.  The Seventh House is my favourite IQ track and Leap of Faith is in my top 5 so I was very happy with that.

A thoroughly enjoyable night's entertainment, and more good news they have also booked another date at the same venue next September!

Yep I would echo those thoughts although they really must play Further Away one day

I was at the Bury gig as well ! Vinyl eh .... do you lot still try and tell the time by the sun-dial in your garden!

I just officially named IQ's The Road Of Bones as my #1 album for 2014.
It was a bit of a dogfight of a choice between a couple of other records I loved
But this one officially reigns supreme.
Amazing album. Can't believe they topped Frequency for me.
