I'm clearly an idiot since I somehow didn't see this thread and posted a new one on exactly the same subject last night. SO I'll let that thread quietly die and regurgitate what I said here, since my opinions are so important:

I'm ridiculously excited about the prospect of both a new motw AND a new Kayo Dot album out this year! So now for no reason I'm going to run down alist of all Driver-related releases, from my favourite to least-favourite:

Kayo Dot - Choirs Of The Eye (flawless, my favourite album of all time)
Maudlin Of The Well - Bath/Leaving Your Body Map (technically two albums I know)
Kayo Dot - Blue Lambency Downward (interesting new RIO-ish direction)
Toby Driver - ...Library Loft (a tad boring in places but there are moments I really love)
Kayo Dot - Dowsing Anemone... (I don't know why, never got into this album as much as the others but still has moments of brilliance)
Maudlin Of The Well - My Fruit Psychobells... (has a rough charm, but pretty undeveloped)
Tartar Lamb - Sixty Metonymies (Quite like it, interesting, but can only listen to it in a certain mood)

The only thing i'm disappointed about is the fact that Randall Dunn is going to  record the next KD album, if the production wasn't so muddy BLD could have rivalled Choirs as my favourite album.

hmmmm. 2009 might not be the year i kill myself, if only for a kayo dot album.

since we're listing favorites. . .

Choirs of the Eye - 10/10 also my favorite album of all time. what impecable taste you have.

Maudlin of the Well - 9.5/10  Bath

Kayo dot - 9.3/10 dowsing anemone with copper tongue. if you think __on limpid for drags a bit (it doesnt), then the first 3 songs on the album have bolstered the score more than enough to justify this grade. Gemini is incredible.

Maudlin of the Well 8.8/10 - Leaving your Body Map

Kayo dot - Blue Lambency downward  8.3/10 (B+) disappointing but there is some great stuff here. i like the jazz, even if the cd is a little aimless at times.

Toby driver - in the L. . .l . . .library loft 8.3 (still a B+ but id take bld over it sooo) creepy cool

Tarter Lamb - Sixty Metonymies - . . . hard to give a grade to. C+ or B- really. not bad but i have a hard time getting into it.

never bothered getting my fruit, might get around to it.

KAYO DOT CANCELED THEIR SHOW IN PHILLY. WHAT THE HELL!!!>>!!>!>!>!>!

I'm so pissed right now. Seriously a week before the show they back out and I'm stuck with a ticket to see Crippled Black Phoenix.

And Comus canceled their American tour.

God this week sucks.

I'll probably still go to the show, I kinda like Ascent of Everest, and the band added in place of Kayo Dot has former members from City of Caterpillar so they should be worth checking out for 10$

^You and me both

Looked at the KD website yesterday and it says Mia's going to be playing guitar on the new album, which should be interesting and Toby's playing bass again, Gleam in Ranks is all the excuse I need to be excited about that!

Ghastly City Sleep, they have no screamo influence at all which is kinda disappointing. Basically shoegaze from what i heard.

Its certainly different than anything else, but I really enjoy. Probably moreso than his solo album.

Oh man I can´t get enough of Bath. I used to think of it as Leaving your body map´s little brother... how wrong was I!!!!!! It´s even better, so incredible!!! And the Blue Ghost is... just so amazing, probably my favorite song from them, so... perfect!!!

I know I already mentioned they come from City of Caterpillar, but the band themselves display no sort of screamo sound.

So, how has the new motW album gone down in all things Toby Driver related, I reckon its right up there with Leaving Your Body Map, Choirs of the Eye and Blue Lambency Downward.

Got the new Baliset album yesterday as well, very strong effort though very different to anything Drivr led.

I'm a new comer to Toby Driver overall, got Blue Lambency a few weeks ago and now the free MotW, and then sampled alot of stuff online. Why doesn't he just call all this stuff by his own name because the new MotW resemble Blue Lambency more than any of his other work, and neither of them really sound all that much like the classics of either band.

Well I suppose it doesn't matter because I have a new free very fine album to listen to. I suppose he can call it whatever he wants.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.
