I wasn't a huge classical fan but I did like the jazzier classical stuff like Rhapsody in Blue. I also used to like a vinyl of my eldest brother's called Big War Movie Themes which features stuff like the music to The Dam Busters, The Great Escape and other similar fair. Oh and Peter and the World I liked too. My musical exposure as a teenager included The Moody Blues, Barclay James Harvest, Queen, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, maybe some Bob Dylan and even a tape featuring Yes' Yours is No Disgrace. Then I got into a bad place by liking The Manic Street Preachers and Oasis for a while... what was I thinking?! Oh and Guns 'n Roses' Use Your Illusion I and II... ouch!

Is that the version found on that random Hammill website?
I know there's a version Flight floating around somewhere... 'tis about 20 minutes in length.

Off The Margin.

Hey, by the way, prog-lovers...
I was wondering the other day whether enjoying prog as a teenage/adult necessitated a healthy exposure to Classical music as a kid, because so far, it seems to be the case with a lot of people I know who do like prog.
Did you guys listen to Classical music when you were younger? |
Errr... sort of. I liked a very limited spectrum of classical and basically not much else [the occasional bit of soul, some more rocked-up blues, a folk song or two] (meaning, a bit of Rachmaninov and Mussourgsky in healthy doses...) looong before I'd heard of 'prog' and I moved on, at great length, from there to an ELP album precisely because of its classical influence. Honestly, it's only now that I'm appreciating classical and being really deeply moved by it... I suspect because I've listened to a lot more in the interim, it's that I'm able to hear what's being played and how it's being played simultaneously. And I'm finding the composers who suit me and the blends of classical that suit me... which helps a lot with the enjoyment, Poulenc, Saint-Saens and Liszt in particular. Edit: long and short, I wasn't even remotely a music-loving person until I was 16 or so. At which point, I basically cut straight to 'prog' and then I became increasingly poor.

ANd I have no idea why people think the cover to The Incident is good.
It's not.
It's rubbish.
That font as well... it looks like a schoolboy/girl did it as rushed art homework.

THE INCIDENT ain't bad, but its not brilliant either. I thoroughly enjoyed the people who placed it in their top 5 PT albums, considering its been around for... Only 2 weeks today.

I'm still undecided about FOABP... So I won't be rating and/or reviewing for a very long while yet.
GUESS WHAT!?
This is 100% Legit.
Seems like you've finally made it, Robert. Your album is not only the third most searched term, but its also searched for on Torrents ![](smileys/smiley36.gif) | I know...I've found my music pirated on a Russian porn site. If that isn't success, I don't know what is.
And what the hell is "epignosis llane?" ![LOL LOL](smileys/smiley36.gif)
