Excellent. There's very little crowd noise during (I can only think of one time where a guy was faintly speaking in the background for a few seconds) and the instruments are all well-represented.

How can i download those files? Because I tried downloading the EITS ones you posted up here, and it downloaded in some weird unplayable format...

am I just not capable?
I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

I think this should help you, but I'm not so sure since I don't have it.

I (being helplessly lazy sometimes) have avoided downloading .shn and .flac audio formats, although some concerts offer VBR mp3 and regular mp3 conversions of the original .flac or .shn recording. I'm sure that this sounds like technological mumbo-jumbo and I by no means am technologically inclined, but I'm trying to say that the mp3 versions of these concerts are actually quite high quality.

So, when searching through the Internet Archive, you can search based on media type (an option presented on the right side of the screen I believe) and pick the concerts from there! The download is a lot faster and the quality is generally high. The VBR mp3 boots that I have downloaded are very clear.

Hello again.

There are some websites that are already making lists for best releases of the year and The Silent Ballet wasn't the exception.

Here's what they have to say about the top 50 post-rock records of 2006:

I have an importnat question.

where does everyone get a hand on these albums?
Do you usually buy them in stores? or do you have to resort to online shopping to find these types of bands.
I try to buy as many as I can in the store, but there usually isn't that much selection in terms of post rock

what websites should i use to buy albums from. are there a couple specific websites devoted post/rock and the like ?

any help is appreciated

The local store here actually has quite a selection, but you can usually order albums off of a band's official sites or the label's sites.

It's a bit surprising, but I'm definitely psyched for the new Do Make Say Think album. Apparently they made a song with lyrical singing on it, which is exciting. I love it when bands actually test themselves and change things up. I can't wait - there are so many potentially grand records coming out this year!

I haven't seen many sites dedicated to the selling of post rock CDs, you might try:
http://www.slippytown.com/usedcd4.htm

If you are near a record store that has a Muse Machine (a computer that has most known releases in its database) it has many titles under the category 'Post-rock' and can be very helpful with whether something is available, band members, instrumentation, and reviews. Sometimes the store can special order what you see on the machine and not charge you any more than what they would normally for a new CD.

Also, if you're in the U.S., a trip to L.A. or S.F. to go to Amoeba is well worth it if you can afford it and have the time.

Wow. Thanks for the link. I already have one of your compilations and posted the link for download in this thread. Be sure to stop whenever you have the time. Smile

Freak:
That made me even more curious to listen to DMST's new album. I have high expectations about the album since they're one of my fav. bands.

I don't know since I haven't heard of them. If they have a myspace page for some streamable songs or a website then post it here so we can check them out.

^^^ Yep. I think you can start with "Mr. Beast" or "Happy Songs..." depending on your taste. Although I personally think "Happy Songs..." is their best.
